Budget Comments The emphasis of this proposal is two-fold: (1) training teachers in our region to make them better skilled instructors in the classroom, thereby increasing student learning, (2) to provide opportunities for our regional students to showcase their talents and skills to other regional students and industry partnerships. We recognize the importance of instructors who are proficient in the many software programs that we use to give our students both the breadth and depth, of knowledge and experience, needed by our students to help prepare them for the varied experiences they will find in business and industry. The bulk of our funding requests are for substitute costs. Please note: we are requesting NO funding for hardware, software or capital outlay. Plan for Sustainability How will the improvements created by this project be sustained over time? Maintain established SORDA regional PTE network for collaboration and mutual support. SORDA leadership, through SORDA Connections, supports and encourages district level teaming. Next year s SORDA regional project application will emphasize the following: ~ HS teacher technical updating and improvement on software skills ~ Design/engineering hands-on applications to enhance instructional program content ~ Develop and strengthen articulation; OIT Manufacturing, and OIT Civil Engineering ~ Continuation of the CADD-A-Thon Regional Skills Contest Please note that the dollars we have requested has gone down and we have not requested funding for software for several years. We are hopeful that this regional group will stay active and involved.
