PERSON SPECIFICATION REQUIRED CRITERIA FOR POST Essential Desirable Minimum of one year s experience, within the last 5 years of working (in paid employment) within the local community environment. Demonstrate knowledge of community engagement, involvement and capacity building tools and techniques. 3 Access to a car for business use. 4 Experience of working within social housing. 5 Experience of Project Planning. 6 Experience of fundraising and completing funding applications. QUALIFICATIONS Five GCSE s, grade A-C or equivalent including English Language and Mathematics.
REQUIRED CRITERIA FOR POST SKILLS & ABILITIES (may be tested at interview) 3 Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Demonstrate ability to deliver presentations to audiences of various sizes. Essential Desirable We reserve the right to enhance criteria to facilitate short listing. SCOPE OF WORK:. Finance To advise on the management of the Our Community grant and assist in applications to this fund. To research, identify and apply for alternative funding and measures to support community initiatives. Taking particular account of value for money and to assist residents groups in identifying external funding to further enhance resident involvement.. Customer To actively encourage and promote resident involvement. To promote awareness and the benefits of resident involvement. To be responsible for facilitating resident involvement opportunities and developing alternative ways in which to involve residents, particularly for those harder to reach groups. To identify any training and development needs for residents wishing to be involved and to facilitate or deliver suitable training to fulfill the identified needs. To update staff and residents on legislation, initiatives and policies relating to resident involvement and to ensure that these are actively communicated.
To be responsible for organising/attending meetings and events; some of which may involve evening and weekend working. 3. Operational Excellence To assist in the development and implementation of the Association s Resident Involvement Strategy. To assist with performance monitoring with particular reference to resident involvement and customer service standards. To assist with the ongoing, planning, development, and implementation of the Association s approach to Community Involvement in adhering to its own Resident Involvement Strategy. To actively assist in the development, implementation and review of policies and procedures for resident involvement. To develop, implement and review methods of community involvement. To assist with the co-ordination and recording of Community Involvement activities, eg events, meetings, surveys for relevant publications, including production of the Resident s Newsletter. To undertake presentations on resident involvement, eg to community groups, committees and the Board. To attend Housing Management Committee meetings as and when required. To monitor and report on the effectiveness of the Resident Involvement Strategy, making recommendations for continuous improvement. To be responsible for the setting up of meetings, production of reports, briefing papers, relevant newsletter articles etc for staff, Board and the Residents Forum. 3
To be responsible to ensure that a structured filing system for all Community Involvement records (ie manual and electronic) is maintained. To maintain up-to-date records in relation to resident involvement. To collect and analyse data, including producing reports, recommending actions and reviewing procedures. To positively represent the Association in order to assist in the development and promotion of the Association s Vision, Values and Strategic aims. To comply with the requirements of Data Protection, Equal Opportunities and Equality legislation. 4. Our People To work with colleagues and residents to promote, co-ordinate and develop resident involvement throughout the work of the Association. To actively support the Housing Team by ensuring opportunities for resident participation are promoted within the organisation and communities. To develop and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, groups, partners and agencies including developing new projects and relationships. To provide accurate briefing to other staff including Managers, Housing Officers, Community Assistants and committees on resident involvement. To work closely with other staff to increase their capacity in Community involvement activities sharing best practice. To conduct all activities in accordance with the Association s Code of Conduct, Lone Working and Health and Safety Policies. To attend training as required. To attend regular supervision meetings with the Housing Manager. 4
To ensure that no religious, political or sexual discrimination, intimidation or harassment or obscene behaviour occurs within the Association. Any other duties as required by the Chief Executive to ensure the successful operation of the Association. NOTE: Conditions of Service of the National Joint Council for Local Authorities will apply. 5
