Purpose of the role : To contribute to the provision of a Child Development Service that is collaborative, responsive to the needs of the consumer and upholds the principles of partnership. KEY TASKS Occupational Therapy Services are delivered in accordance with NZAOT Standards of Practice and as part of the collaborative team process. These OT services include assessment, program planning, intervention, regular review and discharge planning. EXPECTED OUTCOMES Occupational Therapist is a member of the collaborative team and works within all collaborative team processes. Client s function is assessed and abilities and obstacles are identified in conjunction with the team including the family/whanau. Therapy interventions are planned with family/whanau and other team members to meet client s needs within a developmental, cultural and environmental context. Interventions are implemented in a timely, safe and effective manner in accordance with the agreed plan. Regular monitoring of client s interventions including progress and satisfaction is carried out. Discharge planning is timely, effective, and involves consultation with community personnel as required. Administrative tasks related to the requirements of the Child Development Service are completed in a timely and efficient manner Documentation is up to date, legible, complete and is written in accordance with Waitemata District Health Board Standards. Equipment and environmental systems are maintained effectively and efficiently. Statistics are completed in accordance with service procedure. Effective working relationships are formed with the key persons in the community and other Child Health Services. Participation in Child Development Service functioning occurs. The Child Development Service works within the community of the client and is responsive to the community and referral sources. Relationships are established within the cultural context of the client and family/whanau. Therapist is an effective and active member of the Child Development Service. Contribution and attendance at the Child Development Service staff meetings occurs. Staff contribute to service development and review as appropriate. Participation in supervision, professional development and training is undertaken in an ongoing and regular basis. High quality professional skills and standards of care are achieved and maintained. Accredited Assessor credentialing in the areas of housing and wheeled mobility / postural management is sought and maintained, to ensure core EMS applications can be made. Work practice is maintained within WDHB policy framework. Other reasonable tasks required by the Manager to meet the overall purpose of the job. Staff feel supported and maintain a high degree of job satisfaction. Clients are satisfied with the service provided. Work within the Privacy Act, Patient Codes of Rights and Responsibilities Other reasonable tasks are performed.
