PLAN livable communities, sustainable development strategies Collaborate with local governments on planning w/n 10-min. walk or ½-mile station distance Advocate for new development that: Is denser than surrounding uses Contains mix of uses and compact urban design Promotes multi-modal access Supports diversity of housing choices, incl. low income and affordable 12 Incorporates sustainable energy, building materials, stormwater and parking management practices
Strategic Plan joint development guidelines Proposals must meet FTA guidelines where Federal funding applies and should address how the project: Functionally connects to transit Increases ridership Enhances quality of the rider experience Creates a sense of place Functionally connects to adjacent community/respects and advances its vision 13
RTD Mixed-Income Housing Policy Accessibility drives up prices RTD can sell or lease excess land for residential use Local jurisdiction can seek an affordability goal RFQ/RFPs will incorporate goal within evaluation process 14
