AJ DAY AJ is the manager of PCCA s US Pharmacy Consulting Department and has a special interest in veterinary, pain management and aseptic compounding. He will discuss the latest compounding trends in the US and dosage forms for BHRT. GERARD MCINERNEY Gerry is a member of the Pharmacy Board of Australia and the chairman of the Board s compounding committee. Gerry will be speaking about compounding standards and regulations and the new registration requirements for continuing professional development. PROF. BARRY G. WREN Professor Wren is a highly respected menopause researcher, gynaecologist and former director of the Sydney Menopause Centre. He will discuss the controversy regarding hormone replacement resulting from the WHI trial, the use of natural vs synthetic hormones and determining the most appropriate route of administration. DR. JOHN LEE Dr Lee is a general practitioner with a special interest in functional and integrative medicine. Dr Lee will speak about his extensive experience and research on hormones and women s health. DR. JEREMY COLEMAN Dr Coleman is a physician and immunologist with extensive experience in using natural hormones. Dr Coleman will present case studies and an immunological view of hormone replacement. PROF. ANDREW MCLACHLAN Professor McLachlan is the Associate Dean (Research), Professor of Pharmacy (Aged Care) and Chair of Pharmacy (Aged Care) at The University of Sydney. Wren The presentation will review the hormones used for the management of menopause with a discussion of the benefits and adverse effects of HRT. Particular emphasis will be given to timing of introduction of hormone therapy, the length of time it should be used and the various delivery systems currently available. The diet we eat, the chemicals and drugs we are exposed to and the capacity and function of the neuroendocrine system to respond to stressors. This in turn has a major effect on the immune function, by producing hormones that act as immunomodulators.
