Texan Crescent Beta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity Box T-2595 Stephenville, Texas 76402 Summer 2005 Tarleton State University Hello. I hope this issue of our Crescent finds all of our alumni well. The alumni and undergraduates have changed a lot within the past couple of years. The alumni board and the undergraduates are growing stronger with each passing day by striving to become better men, better brothers, and a better fraternity. Beta Sigma has also gone through rough times. This past year, Dr. Albert Lilly, the main contributor for starting an Alpha Gamma Rho Chapter at Tarleton has passed away. This has struck the chords of brotherhood and friendship of many people. The alumni and undergraduates have plans to remodel and update our chapter room that will be dedicated in Dr. Albert Lilly s name at the founder s day of 2006. The chapter plans to move in a new direction with recruitment. Moving forward with changing times is not always the simplest thing to do. The chapter has put together a committee regarding recruitment and has plans to change Over the past few years Beta Sigma has tried to implement one of the more prominent recruitment programs of Alpha Gamma Rho. The collegiate and alumni members have made many important changes to summer recruitment. By doubling past budgets and implementing an Alumni Recruitment Advisor, Tim Border, we feel that we are on Noble Ruler s Report Recruitment Report a lot of the recruitment practices to better our fraternity over the course of the summer and fall. With the help of valuable alumni, our adviser, and the undergraduates I see this chapter succeeding in ways we never thought possible. Currently the undergraduates have plans to remodel and update many parts of the house, which will improve its value in the future. We have just remodeled our kitchen which our members have done an exceptional job on. If you are ever in town please come by the house and stop by to visit. The undergraduates would enjoy the company and hearing about the different aspects of Alpha Gamma Rho from an alumnus. Thank you and God Bless. Fraternally, Brandon Griggs Beta Sigma #227 the right track. Last year the Beta Sigma Chapter was awarded with National Alpha Gamma Rho High Honors Recruitment Award. With these future plans hopefully we do better. If you would like to help in anyway with summer recruitment please contact Colton Martin or Brandon Griggs at agr@tarleton.edu. Remembering Dr. Lilly This year the Beta Sigma Chapter has encountered a significant loss within our brothers. Dr. Albert Lilly past away April 11, 2005. Dr. Lilly has supported this chapter and helped it grow to where it is since 1988. He has above all helped implement Alpha Gamma Rho here at Tarleton State University. Please keep the Lilly family in your thoughts and prayers. The undergraduates have made many plans regarding Dr. Lilly and hope that the alumni will join this group effort. Below is a proposal that the undergraduate members have passed. Proposed Naming of the Chapter Room of the Beta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity April 25, 2005 History & Explanation: Dr. Albert Lilly has been a long-time supporter of the Beta Sigma Chapter at Tarleton State University. Since the late 1980 s Dr. Lilly has been instrumental in helping us receive our charter and the creation of our alumni association. His practice in Stephenville rapidly grew because of his dedication to his patients and his community. Serving on several committees and boards through out his life in Stephenville, Dr. Lilly became a most respected pillar of the Stephenville and Tarleton community. The Chapter Room of any chapter house serves in many capacities. Many other chapters have large chapter rooms where brothers might convene together to eat a meal or two conduct a chapter meeting as well as initiations. As with many things, Beta Sigma has their own spin on issues like these. Our chapter room in our house serves many purposes. As a room for Executive Council and Alumni Association meetings, group study, and overflow for special event meals this room serves all brothers both young and old. The Chapter Room of all chapters is a room that is very formal, respected, and special to every brother. Since the purchase of our house in late 1999, it has seen many changes and improvements. However the Chapter Room has not seen some of the advantages and improvements as some of the other areas of the House. Proposition: We plan to officially name our Chapter Room the Dr. Albert Lilly Memorial Chapter Room. With the naming come improvements to help make this room more respectable and formal to enhance the name. Our goal is to Create a Chapter Room Committee of three undergraduate members and three alumni association members to create a plan of improvements and implementation schedule of improvements as well as create opportunities to secure funding for the project. Present their plans to the undergraduates and the alumni association for general consensus. Funding: A joint project between the undergraduates and the alumni association will have to transpire to make this project successful. Fundraising options on both sides will need to be explored and implemented to ensure completion. Improvements: Some improvements that could be made: - New conference table and chairs - New paneling and crown molding - Showcases for chapter awards and honors - Audio/visual connections for meetings - New flooring and Lighting - Storage for Chapter Ritual and formal materials Dedication: Dedication of this room will take place at the Founder s Day Celebration 2006. At this time brothers both young and old can experience the emotional feeling that this room has to offer. Honored at this program will be Mrs. Albert Lilly where she will be Beta Sigma s honored guest. She will also be presented with a key to the room and appreciation for her husband s contributions to Alpha Gamma Rho. Please Keep the Home Office Informed Moving, getting a new job?
