PARCC TESTING: Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be taking the PARCC assessment in English/Language Arts (4 sessions) and Mathematics (4 sessions) on the dates listed below. Each testing session is 60-90 minutes in length. All testing will take place in the mornings. While makeup testing will be possible, we would greatly appreciate if you are able to avoid scheduling appointments on any of these dates. Students do not need to do anything extra to prepare - a good night's sleep and a good breakfast will help set them up for success! Grade 3: May 2, 4, 10, 11, 18, 19, 23, 24 Grade 4: May 12, 13, 16, 17, 25, 26, 31, June 1 Grade 5: April 22, 25, 27, 29, May 3, 5, 6, 9 THE SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR IS HERE! The Book Fair runs today through April 22 nd from 8:15 a.m. 3:30 p.m. with our Family Event on Wednesday, April 20th from 3:30 p.m. 7:00 p.m. Students will browse the Fair during their media class and make a wish list of titles that they find interesting. Beginning on Monday April 18 th, students may bring orders and make purchases. Volunteers are still needed to help fill student orders and help students with their wish lists. If you are interested in being a volunteer, please email Lisa Flynn (lisa_flynn@hcpss.org). If you are unable to attend our book fair, you can order titles online from April 11 th May 1st! Visit our book fair website: http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/manorwoodselemschool. Books ordered online will arrive approximately one week after the end of the book fair. VISION AND HEARING SCREENING: Screening will be held for K-1 on Thursday, April 21st. Please be certain your child wears his or her glasses on the screening day. Re-screening will be held May 2, 2016. If you are interested in volunteering for our Vision and Hearing Screening on April 21st, please contact Lynnette Winde in the Health Room at (410) 313-8326 or email: lynnette_winde@hcpss.org. KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION FOR THE 2016-2017 SCHOOL YEAR: Families of children who will be five years old by September 1, 2016 are urged to register for Kindergarten for the 2016-2017 school year. Staffing for next school year is based on the number of registered Kindergarten students. SCHOOL NEWS SUPPORT THE AMERICAN RED CROSS AT MANOR WOODS BLOOD DRIVE - MAY 2 nd FROM 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 P.M.: Schedule your lifesaving donation online at redcrossblood.org. Use Rapid Pass to save up to 15 minutes off your donation time the day of the blood drive by reading the required materials and answering your predonation questions. Questions? We will continue to collect non-perishable food throughout the school year. Students may drop off donations in the shopping cart in the front lobby. Thank you again for your generous support. HCPSS 2016 SUMMER CLASSES AND CAMPS: Catalogs are now available in the front lobby (bookcase). Students can catch up, get ahead, and learn something new by participating in a summer class or camp.
