Letter from the Assistant Administrator For those who do read our newsletter, you know Michael Chies (Administrator), usually writes this article but this month we are mixing things up a bit. Let me first introduce myself, I am Ryan Chies, son of Michael and Jackie Chies (Accounts Payable), and brother to Brady Chies (Maintenance Director). I have worked at New Brighton Care Center and for my family in some capacity since I was 15 years old. The first job I ever had at New Brighton Care Center was working in the kitchen. I was responsible for washing dishes and setting up all the trays. I enjoyed that job throughout high school. Working in the kitchen gave me a real appreciation of the hard work all the Dietary staff do to provide great tasting meals to all the residents. The second job I had was working in the Maintenance department while going to college. This job gave me a great background and appreciation in what it takes to keep a building up and running. After college I continued my education in Long-Term Health Care Administration and attained the Nursing Home Administrator licensure in 2002. Since then I have been the Assistant Administrator working alongside of my father. I have appreciated this opportunity, more than words can express. I ve learned so many amazing lessons over the years but the most important lesson I ve learned is that it takes a wonderful team of caring individuals, working together, to provide brilliant care to those we serve, the residents and families. We all get caught up in our lives and work sometimes forgetting to acknowledge and thank those who make this all possible. I want to take this time to express my sincere gratitude to all the wonderful individuals who make New Brighton Care Center a wonderful place to live and work. These amazing people who dedicate their working lives to providing the highest quality of care to our residents need to be recognized and thanked. Each one of you needs to know that I personally appreciate all the wonderful things you do for the residents and for New Brighton Care Center. I encourage families and residents to take a moment to say thank you to all those who dedicate their careers to caring for others. All it takes to brighten someone s day is saying thank you for all you do! I would also encourage families, residents, and staff to contact your local representative and let them know how important nursing homes and care givers are. Care givers in Minnesota have had their wages frozen for over four years due to legislative action and that needs to change now! The only way that change can occur is if you make your opinion and voice heard. Please take an active role in helping up make this change possible. If you need assistance in finding your representative, contact me at (651)403-5244 or swing into the business office. Ryan Chies Assistant Administrator 5 New Brighton Care Center
