BRAE NEWS & EVENTS PUP OF THE WEEK: CHRIS KANALEY Meet Chris Kanaley! He is a third year BRAE student from Coarsegold, California. He loves working down in the shops with the legendary Virgil Threkel and helping out with the Robotics Club in his free time. You can find him taking long walks on the beach at sunset or casually working on his summer bod in the rec center. SLO is one of his favorite destinations because of the beautiful scenery and down to earth people. His summer plans include traveling to Orlando, Florida to compete in the ASABE Robotics Competition. Next year he will be taking the role as Vice President of the PAAC (Precision Agriculture & Automation Club)! Give him a hoot & say hello! 2

In the casual bracket, teams can range from 4-6 players, and in the competitive bracket, teams can have 2 people. The cost to play will be $10 per person. EWB Alumni Weekend (5/28-29) Come join our awesome alumni for breakfast and learn about their experiences in EWB on Saturday, May 28th, and after join them on a brewery tour around SLO (those under 21 are still welcome to join)! On Sunday, May 29th help represent your project team in an afternoon sports tournament! Then, wrap up the day with our annual EWB Spring Banquet. Registration for alumni weekend will be $15 for breakfast and fun activities. Both students and alumni, be sure to RSVP here for the big weekend! RSVP for Spring Banquet (5/29) On Sunday, May 29th from 6-8:30pm you are invited to EWB s annual Spring Banquet. Join us in the ATL (Bldg. 7) as we celebrate the year, hear about the progress of our club, and say farewell to our graduation seniors. A catered dinner will be served with a vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Tickets are $20 for students and free for faculty members. Dress will be semi-formal. Please RSVP by May 28th. Volunteer for building an engineer day When: 5/14/2016 Building an Engineer Day is an event for 6th through 8th grade students to learn more about what it means to be an engineer! The day consists of 4 hands-on lab activities hosted by various engineering clubs on campus. This event provides the students with a great opportunity to experience different engineering disciplines. But this can t happen without your help! STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES Outdoor Ed- Senior Park-Aide (Seasonal) ($12.04-$13.31) or Park Interpretive Specialist (Seasonal) ($11.71-$14.19) (Pismo Beach) This is a seasonal position with CA State Parks that may work up to 1500 hours per year. The reporting location for this position is our new Oceano Dunes District Visitor Center, located at 555 Pier Avenue, Oceano CA, 93445, located within Oceano Campground. This position reports to the Chief Ranger or designee and assists with the interpretation and education programs of the District to include Pismo State Beach, North Beach and Oceano Campgrounds, Oceano Dunes SVRA as well as Pismo Lakes and Oso Flaco. The position is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing and delivering District interpretive and educational programming within the District, our community and abroad, to include traditional Junior Ranger and Campfire programs, school group educational outreach and presentations, community events and trade shows. You will be responsible to complying with the Department uniform standards and as an employee of California State Parks, the incumbent shall adhere to the Department performance standards. The position will be required to work Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and an additional weekday due to events. Must be able to work holidays, weekends and evenings. During the peak season (June through Labor Day weekend) will work 17-34 hours per week. During the off season (September through May) may work 10-24 hours per week. State housing is not available.
