You will either be post take, on the normal ward round, CEPOD (emergency theatres) or normal main theatres in the mornings and in the afternoons you will either be on the ward, CEPOD or theatres. The other alternative is that you will be on call. The on calls are pretty well spaced and not too often. When doing a weekend you get the day off before ie. Thursdays, which is nice. When doing a weekday oncall you get half day usually the following afternoon. Each Monday morning there is the radiology meeting. Where scans are discussed so good opportunity to learn. Each Thursday morning is our own surgical teaching in the ed centre where one of us teaches the rest, so check the timetable to know when it s your turn. The rota also allows for Thursday afternoons FY2 teaching, unless you are oncall. The oncalls are well supported by registrar and consultant. Each day there is a GI ward round and a Breast/Endocrine ward round done by a registrar so is very organised and led by a senior. William Harvey Hospital. Mainly on surgical wards but also have outlier patients, and main theatres/day surgery theatres The consultant you are allocated to will be your clinical supervisor. From my experience, they are all pretty nice and get you involved if you like and also teach quite a lot. As above. Your main role other than what is on the

rota is to support your FY1s as they are quite busy generally and will need help on the wards especially in the afternoons and with more complex patients/scans.
