GPA no less than 2.5. Must be a Winn Brook Elementary School graduate attending 4 year college in pursuit of an education in either American History of Education. Must have attended Belmont High School for four years; be continuing on to a program of higher education; be motivated to complete that course of education. GIVEN SOPHOMORE YEAR A student committed to earning an Associates Degree, Certificate or Technical Degree in a post high school setting. Demonstrates financial need. Academic achievement and a strong school spirit. Graduate pursuing higher education in Criminal Justice or Forensic Science High degree of scholastic excellence with unusual skill and promise in arts, science, athletics, or other extracurricular activity (1 to a Boy and 1 to a Girl) Awarded to a deserving tennis player or manager selected by the tennis coach. Belmont Citizen only. Good Citizenship Award - Outstanding student within the building - 1 boy and 1 girl. A student (male or female) who has demonstrated both leadership qualities and an active interest in women's issues. Financial need. The senior must be certain of admission into an accredited school of higher learning. The senior must plan to attend that school after graduation. The general qualifications for consideration are: Special consideration will be given to a candidate who is related to a member of the Retired Men's Club, however it is not a primary requisite. Good character, good academic abilities, need of financial assistance and involvement in extracurricular activities, community activities and work experience. Recipient who plans to pursue education at four year college/university and who has been enrolled in the Learning Center for all of his/her tenure at BHS. Demonstrated exemplary motivation in coursework and extracurricular activities. Performed at or above potential. Financial need; involved in music; shows service and leadership in school. One Male and One Female. Academic achievement, good character, and has a financial need. Must be Belmont Resident who is a four (4) year member of the graduating class. Consideration will be given first to a relative of a Belmont Lions Club member, then to other applicants. Demonstrates a commitment to the welfare of the Belmont Community. May not accept additional scholarships. Student with definite plan for higher education who is in financial need and has demonstrated qualities of generosity and altruism. Special consideration to a recipient who is dedicated to environment and/o helping others who are in need. Recipient must have financial need. A graduating senior pursuing a career in nursing. This scholarship will be given to a graduating senior with identified financial need, who is pursuing a degree in the sciences (preference given to chemistry), and who is scheduled to attend Wellesley College. The primary qualification will be financial need. If no graduating students meet the requirements, the scholarship will roll over to the next year. Awarded to a senior METCO student who will be attending four year college; who has shown leadership and have become involved in BHS and/or Town of Belmont. Recipients chosen by the Treasurer's Office. Recipient must be active in local government or community service Academic achievement, extra curricular interests and financial need. Academic achievement and financial need Given to a student who possesses a passion of history. This student has the highest grades in this subject.
