English Language Immersion Winter Program 2017 DATES TO BE DETERMINED Program Overview: The English Language Immersion program at Marquette Catholic High School engages students in English language learning and American cultural exploration. The curriculum is rooted and structured around academic objectives. Program Objectives: Students will increase their knowledge of the English Language through reading, writing, listening and speaking opportunities in and out of the classroom. Students will increase their knowledge of American culture, local geology and history through handson experiences, field-work and cultural immersion. Students will increase their knowledge of the American secondary and post-secondary educational system through high school, college and university campus visits. This price does not include transportation expenses to and from China. Students will attend a day tour of Chicago and view its architecture, museums and college campuses Dress: semi-formal attire for traveling, warm coat, athletic wear snow boots, casual wear, gym shoes and comfortable clothing 2 degrees Celsius (29 degrees Fahrenheit) in the afternoon, and -10 degrees Celsius (14 degrees Fahrenheit) at night. The delegation will be greeted by program facilitators. The delegation will board a school bus and travel to Marquette Catholic High School in Michigan City, Indiana (1 hour). The delegation will assemble at the Beach House for a welcome meal, orientation, local tour, organization, rest, and acclimation. 5:30 p.m. Arrive at O Hare International Airport - Chicago 8:00 p.m. The delegation will attend a welcome dinner at the Beach House. Traditional American food will be served.
