KEY TASKS To deliver expert mental health nursing knowledge and skills in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of ECT care within WDHB To collaborate effectively with clinical team, medical and nursing staff across interdepartmental teams around all aspects of ECT service (planning, care, delivery and evaluation) To provide clinical and professional leadership with respect to ECT service in WDHB To promote ongoing education and training in ECT service delivery within WDHB EXPECTED OUTCOMES Coordinates the provision of an ECT service to those service users referred for ECT Develop care plans that integrates the patho- physiology, [pharmacological and legal considerations of client ECT care Uses advanced nursing knowledge and specific clinical skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate service users needs and the needs of their family/whanau from referral to discharge. Monitor, evaluate and document outcomes of care and take appropriate action through the use of standard protocols and clinical pathways in ECT care. Responds in collaboration with the Multidiciplinary team (MDT) in a confident and competent manner to complex and unpredictable situations with respect to ECT care Role model excellence in clinical professional ECT practice when working along staff to provide assistance where needed. Acts as expert resource for MDT on issues related to ECT. Actively participates in meetings with all members of the MDT Brings nursing perspective to the management of ECT care within MDT Promotes nursing leadership within MDT Follow up on clinical nursing issues related to ECT identified by MDT as needing nursing input. Contributes to ongoing development of quality improvement within the ECT service Works with service providers to enhance the skills, knowledge and attitude of staff regarding ECT Leads evidence based ECT nursing practices across the services Identifies and recognizes the learning needs of WDHB in respect of ECT Role models and maintains own clinical expertise within ECT Provides expert expertise and best practice recommendations to staff across WDHB in respect of ECT Supports nursing practice to ensure care is delivered appropriately Acts as clinical resource for all clinical staff Establish and maintains local, regional and national networks regarding ECT Waitemata District Health Board -JOB DESCRIPTION - Page 2
