Australia Zoo provides significant financial support to Wildlife Warriors, enabling 100 per cent of donations to go directly toward conservation projects. The internationally recognised charity is registered in Australia and the United States. Sponsorships and tax-deductible donations to Wildlife Warriors support the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, the Rescue Unit and various conservation projects throughout Australia and abroad. SAVING THOUSANDS OF LIVES AT THE AUSTRALIA ZOO WILDLIFE HOSPITAL The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital is now one of the largest and busiest of its kind in the world, treating thousands of animals every year. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, it provides a free service to the community as well as educating and inspiring visitors to make a difference to our world through conservation. DID YOU KNOW? On average 6000 wildlife patients are admitted each year. The majority of patients are victims of car accidents and domestic pet attacks. Up to 100 koalas can be in care at any one time. The biggest threat to koalas after habitat loss is chlamydial disease. The Rescue Unit responds to wildlife emergency calls seven days a week. WHY WE ASK EACH RUN ON THE WILD SIDE PARTICIPANT TO RAISE $500 Every $500 you raise, we are able to provide round the clock care for a critically ill or injured koala in our Mammals Intensive Care Unit for one day. At the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, we specialise in the care, treatment and rehabilitation of sick and injured koalas. While koalas currently aren t listed as an endangered species, 80% of koala habitat has been lost to human development including homes and businesses, as well as drought and fires. That makes life hard for an animal that needs eucalyptus forests to survive, like koalas do. Your $500 can go a long way and mean a great deal to a koala on its path to recovery helping us on our mission to save one, save the species. 7

TIPS FOR BOOSTING YOUR FUNDRAISING 1. PERSONALISE YOUR EVERYDAY HERO PAGE To make your Hero Page as engaging as possible, upload a photo of yourself so people recognise you. On your Hero page entry, explain why you are trying to raise money for Wildlife Warriors and why you want to make a difference. You can even mention the specific resources the money will contribute to, supporting our cause. $ 10 $ 25 $ 50 For just $10, you can help us feed an orphaned koala joey for one day. This will help us feed and provide a make shift pouch for an orphaned kangaroo joey for one week. Will help us provide warmth, shelter and food to an orphaned baby bird that has wandered from its nest and into harm s way. 2. DON T SET YOUR TARGET TOO LOW! You may be surprised by how much people are willing to contribute to help you reach your goal. Set your goals high and raise as much as you possibly can for Wildlife Warriors by trying to set an ambitious, but achievable target. 3. EMAIL YOUR CLOSE FRIENDS AND FAMILY FIRST Send an email to close friends and family who are likely to be your most generous supporters, before asking others to donate. Make sure you send your Hero Page to friends and family who live overseas as 10% of all funds raised are donated from outside of Australia. 4. USE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA You can link your Hero Page to your social media (e.g. Facebook and Twitter) by clicking on the social media icons on your fundraising page or by posting your Hero Page URL to your own social media page. 5. CHANGE YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL SIGNATURE Consider changing your email signature at work and/or at home to add a line at the bottom which includes the web address of your Hero Page. 6. MAKE SURE YOU CONTACT ALL YOUR POTENTIAL SUPPORTERS In addition to close friends and family, don t forget to contact any other groups you may have connections with: former colleagues, old school and college friends, friends living internationally, members of sporting clubs you belong to or committees you are part of. If you are involved with a business don t forget to ask your suppliers, as they often like to show support. 8

TIPS FOR BOOSTING YOUR FUNDRAISING 7. UPDATE YOUR HERO PAGE AND EMAIL YOUR SUPPORTERS AGAIN People try their best donate, but sometimes donation requests get pushed to the bottom of their inbox and are left forgotten. It usually takes more than one round of emails to nudge everyone into action, so don t feel embarrassed about asking people more than once. To update your Hero Page, log in to your My Hero account. You can change your Hero Page by posting a new photo or video and updating your entry: tell everyone how healthy (or otherwise) you are feeling and how much money you ve raised so far. Then resend the link to your updated page by email. 8. ASK TO BE INCLUDED IN YOUR COMPANY WEBSITE OR NEWSLETTER Lots of companies encourage staff to participate in charitable events and fundraising, so ask your company if they are willing to include something about you on the company website or company newsletter. Some companies offer a donation-matching scheme, where they will match the amount of money an employee raises. 9. PUT UP A POSTER Use our handy poster template and put it up in the office kitchen, local supermarket, gym, post office, school or anywhere else you can get permission. Use the poster to ask people to visit your Hero Page and support you. 10. DON T STOP FUNDRAISING WHEN THE EVENT FINISHES A surprising number of donations are received after the event has finished, so don t stop fundraising. Once you ve recovered from the event, update your Hero Page again and email it to your contacts. It s a great way of letting those who have supported you know you have achieved your goal and prompts anyone who still hasn t donated to do so. You have until 11:59pm on the 16th of June to bank all funds via your Hero Page to be eligible for all prize incentives. 9

RAISING MONEY AS A TEAM Who doesn t enjoy spending time with their friends? That s why raising money for Wildlife Warriors with your friends is so much more fun than doing it alone! 1. Use our handy poster template to promote your unique Everyday Hero link 2. Email the local press promoting your Team Page along with a photo of you all having fun! 3. Get together as a team and hold a trivia evening invite your friends and family, show all of them your passion for Wildlife Warriors and the effort you are willing to put in to reach your team goal. 4. Set weekly or monthly goals for team members to share your fundraising message further and to keep the momentum going! GOALS FOR EVERY TEAM MEMBER COULD INCLUDE: Make a donation to your own Supporter Page, this not only shows your commitment to the cause but also moves you from the zero balance! Email your Team Page link to at least 30 of your friends - use all of your networks! Share your Team Page link on your Facebook page Tweet your Team Page link Ask your employer to sponsor you, or see if they have a giving scheme which a lot of businesses will have set up. Don t forget to have fun! The reason you are raising money is for a great cause, the reason you are doing it with your friends is because you all share the same passion! 10
