What distinguishes Oman in general, and Muscat in particular, is the easy access to major tourist attractions and the abundance of variety to meet all interests. For nature lovers, there are white sandy beaches that extend as far as the eye can see, often modulating into shimmering golden sand dunes surrounding refreshing oases that are a welcome surprise to the wandering traveller. For lovers of high terrain, they will surely be captivated by the mountainous regions that conceal countless wadis and lagoons that constitute a single and independent ecosystems by themselves. This natural diversity provides a variety of adventures and options available to tourists, from desert activities to water sports and the other natural activities. Oman is the ultimate destination for cultural tourism. This is where you will find hundreds of castles, forts and museums dating back to various historic epochs. In general, Omani people are characterized by a broad smile and the authentic Arabic generosity that is in the Omani blood. This is evident in the Omani hospitality widespread throughout the country, whether be it the aromatic Omani coffee offered to visitors or the laden palm trees that welcome anyone who wishes to taste their fruit. www.omantourism.gov.om
