SECOMB CONFERENCE AND TRAVEL FUND Advice t Applicants The Secmb Cnference and Travel Fund is designed t assist pstgraduate research students at Victria University t attend a cnference either within the State f Victria, interstate r verseas fr the purpse f presenting a research paper. What des the Fund cver? Funds will be made available t meet a prtin f the registratin fee and travel expenses directly attributable t attendance at a cnference and will nrmally be made available in advance f the specific cnference. Funds fr this prgram are nt sufficient t cver full csts f cnference attendance. As a guide, applicants shuld nt expect t receive mre than ne-third f the csts f travel and cnference registratin. Wh is eligible t apply? Applicants can be Dmestic r Internatinal students. Applicants must be enrlled in a Masters by Research, a PhD r the research stage f a research Dctral prgram at Victria University at the time that the applicatin is ldged and als at the time that the cnference is held. In additin, applicants must have had their candidature apprved and have satisfactrily cmpleted at least six mnths f full time enrlment (r its equivalent) frm the date f apprved candidature at the time f ldging the applicatin. Applicants must be attending the cnference fr the purpse f delivering a research paper by ral presentatin. Full time staff members f the University are ineligible t apply fr this scheme. Cnditins f the Award On return frm the cnference, successful applicants are required t submit a pst cnference reprt tgether with a cpy f the presented paper t the Graduate Research Centre. These papers will be bund and added t the cllectin f papers entitled The Secmb Papers which are hused in the University s library. A further cnditin f this award is that successful applicants are required t participate in the Three Minute Thesis Cmpetitin (3MT) in the next available rund. Applicants will nt be supprted mre than nce in any given academic year. Preference will be given t students wh have nt previusly received funding frm the Secmb Cnference and Travel Fund.
