Clinical Placements 50% of the course is spent in clinical practice, working shifts, providing care for patients & clients. Practice placements are arranged by the University to ensure students receive the best possible and varied clinical experience to enable students to become safe and confident practitioners. All students are allocated to a designated trained nurse who will be their practice mentor during their placement. The mentor will be responsible for teaching and assessing students, and providing feedback on performance.
Why do students struggle or leave? Unrealistic expectations of the programme (placements, shifts, travel, reality of dealing with Personal circumstances. The discipline needed for self-directed study. Not seeking support / discussing problems as they arise self awareness is key. Discontinued by us due to academic failure or attendance or a Fitness to Practice issue. patients).
