You made a difference staff awards December 30 December Ward C6 - Catering team Ward C6 is a 28 bedded ward dedicated to the care of the elderly. The ward cares for people with a wide variety of medical conditions who require admission to an acute hospital. The nomination was received from a departmental colleague and specifically mentioned catering assistants Jacky Bradbeer and Manoharan Raghavan. Both housekeepers were praised for always treating patients with respect and dignity and for providing a first class service to our patients. Page 1

Manoharan Raghavan said I want to thank the team, everyone here works really well and we all support each other. Ben Fleming - Healthcare Assistant Ben Fleming started working in the Trust in September last year as a Healthcare Assistant on Ward A4 in preparation to start work on the new Trauma Ward, J2, in October 2012. Ben has taken on additional responsibilities and also helps with the induction of new healthcare assistants to the Trust. The winning nomination was received from a patient who said Ben was a wonderful support through my recovery. Ben said: I want to thank the team for all their support and commitment to everything. Ben s mother, Gill Fleming, who also works at the hospital said: it is such a fabulous achievement and I am very proud of Ben. Page 2

Jane Hollis - Lupus Specialist Nurse Jane Hollis post was created in 2011 and involves supporting patients through research and education. She is involved in a nurse led clinic for joint vasculitis, rheumatology and pregnancy clinic. Jane s award winning nomination came from two staff members who said she was a great asset to the Trust. Valerie Morrison, Jane s colleague commented that she is a fantastic person to work with and always there for support. Jane said I want to thank the whole team and to the Trust for setting up my new post and I love having the contact with the patients. Page 3

Fernando Calamonte Gallardo, specialist nurse, Emergency Department for being pleasant, professional and confident in your abilities. Karia Casino, bank health care assistant, Staff Bank for demonstrating an excellent communication style. Gill Clayton, consultant, Breast Unit for excellent patient Kayleigh Clifford, community midwife, Rosie for making a home birth a wonderful and positive experience. Carol Erum, healthcare assistant, Ward J3 for being friendly and putting a patient at ease. Page 4

Rachel Kirby, head radiotherapist, Oncology for being a great support to a relative throughout a frightening treatment. John Metcalfe, training facilitator, Learning and Development for being flexible and adaptive in the coaching and training sessions delivered Peter Middleton, ward clerk, Ward A3 for always being cheerful and an extra help to clinical staff.
