News from Saddleback College For Immediate Release Contact: Jennie McCue 949-582-4320 Saddleback College Nursing Program to Graduate 54 Men and Women in Special Pinning Ceremony Mission Viejo, CA -- On Tuesday, December 16, 2008, fifty-four graduates of the Saddleback College Nursing Program will be honored in a candlelight and pinning ceremony to be held in the McKinney Theatre at Saddleback College. Congratulations to our nursing program graduates, who I greatly admire for choosing a career that is focused on helping those in their greatest time of need, stated Dr. Tod A. Burnett, President of Saddleback College. I know that with the instruction they have received from Saddleback College s outstanding nursing faculty, our graduates are prepared to be some of the best nurses in the field. Highlights of the ceremony will include a class remembrance speech by graduating student Karen Ritter and a farewell address by graduating student Karen Mooney. Saddleback College Professor Diane Pestolesi will formally present the class as Professors Terri Whitt, Ed.D., and Janine O Buchon honor each graduate with the timehonored nursing pin, a symbol of a nurse s service to others and his or her induction into the nursing profession. Saddleback College Professors Betsy Brewington and Phillis Kucharski, together with graduating student Traci Ford, will preside over a candle lighting ceremony, symbolizing the passing of knowledge from one generation to the next since Florence Nightingale first brought enlightenment to the nursing profession in the 19 th century. Graduating student Rachel Duran will represent the spirit of nursing with a class pledge. Graduating student Kimberly Root will present a donation from the Nursing Class of Fall 2008 to a scholarship for a student currently in the nursing program.
