ACE Star Model of Kowledge Trasformatio The curriculum of the Summer Istitute o EBP is orgaized aroud the ACE Star Model of Kowledge Trasformatio (Steves, 2004). The model depicts relatioships betwee various forms of kowledge, as ewly-discovered research evidece is moved through several stages ad ito practice. This model is easily commuicated ad clearly coveys the essece of evidece-based practice. It melds ito a whole, established cocepts ad ew cocepts of improvig care, providig a framework for systematically puttig EBP processes ito operatio. Cofigured as a simple 5-poit star, the model illustrates five major stages of kowledge trasformatio: 1) kowledge discovery (research), 2) evidece summary, 3) traslatio ito practice recommedatios, 4) itegratio ito practice, ad 5) evaluatio. Evidece-based processes ad methods vary from oe poit of the star to the ext. The ACE Star Model places previous scietific work o research utilizatio withi the cotext of EBP ad serves as a orgaizer for examiig ad applyig EBP. The model is developed through the Academic Ceter for Evidece-Based Practice (ACE). ACE was established as a ceter of excellece for UT Health Sciece Ceter at Sa Atoio School of Nursig i Jauary 2000. It is dedicated to bridgig research ito practice. The goal of ACE is to improve healthcare ad patiet outcomes through evidece-based practice, research, ad educatio.
