Community Leaders Visit With ZELC Students The Kiwanis Club, Mayor, Police Chief, Fire Chief, and various business leaders and volunteers from our community recently came to Zachary Early Learning Center to read to our students. Following the reading each child was gifted with a book called Kindergarten, Here I Come! It was such an honor to have them visit our school and we are very grateful for the support of our community! ZCSB Talented ArtZ Alive Showcase The Zachary Community School District Talented Arts Program will present ArtZ Alive 2016: Two Nights of Talented Theatre, Music And Visual Arts Showcase at the Visual and Performing Arts Center at Zachary High School. We hope to see you there! ZELC Learns All About Bee Keeping For the past two weeks, students at Zachary Early Learning Center have been learning about insects. A highlight of the unit on insects was a visit from Beekeeper Mrs. Amanda McMorris! Mrs. McMorris demonstrated and discussed the job of a bee keeper. She showed some of the tools she uses with her bees. Thanks Mrs. McMorris for sharing your hobby with us!

ZES Teachers Attend NCTM Conference Zachary Elementary School teachers Presly Howard, Pam Washington, Stacey Hunt, Jeanne Weston, Maegan Brown and Demetria Scott recently attended the NCTM in San Francisco, California. The NCTM Annual Meeting and Exposition was a wonderful experience as they were exposed to new concepts for teaching and instructing students in math. Many sessions demonstrated great techniques that can be used immediately in the classroom. CMES Orchestra Earn Medals Congratulations to the Copper Mill Elementary School Orchestra Students who placed with a "I" at the Louisiana Music Educators' Association Solo and Ensemble Festival on Saturday, April 16, 2016. Out of 8 schools in the "District IV area," Copper Mill Elementary students won the most number of medals - 23 solo medals and 68 ensemble medals. Julia Huihi earned 4 medals. ZELC Visits LSU s AG Magic Zachary Early Learning Center students recently visited AG Magic LSU Parker Coliseum. AG Magic is an interactive, visually stimulating, educational journey through Louisiana Agriculture. Our students had a blast! Rube Goldberg Machines At ZHS Zachary High School Physics class seniors showed off their amazing Rube Goldberg Machines. Students did an amazing job with each machine being evaluated for the following criteria: 20 seconds long, lever, pulley, wheel & axel, inclined plane, screw, wedge, completed task, & an oral presentation. Mrs. Raziano, Mrs. Harvey and Mr. Fletcher thanks for your hard work, effort and continuous dedication to the students of Zachary High School.

ZCSB Recognizes Student Accomplishments Congratulations to Zachary High School senior Lauren Lane. Lauren is currently producing a video that the City of Zachary will use to promote tourism. The Chamber of Commerce will also use this video on their website and as they travel to events. Congratulations to the Zachary High School 2016 State Champion LSBA Mock Trial Team. The team consists of students John Carl Begley, Elise Goff, Aanan Henderson, Nash Joyner, Jake Robertson, Reagan Staggs, & Shelby Waddell. Coaches are Chris Staggs, Adrianne Dykes, & Craig Kaster.
