Thurston County Search and Rescue Zoo Youth at Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium Washington Expler Search and Rescue is a statewide ganization comprised of youth and adult volunteers dedicated to helping those who are lost injured in wilderness urban settings. They also assist the Sheriff s Department in other missions such as flood control and crime scene evidence searches. Other activities they are involved in are: parking lot attendants, sand bagging during floods, and other community activities. Zoo Guides talk with zoo visits and campers about animals in the exhibit areas, wk with summer camp staff, participate in citizen science & conservation projects, and me. Note that Zoo Guides do NOT assist with animal care, but can learn what training & education is needed to do so.
