Scholarship Name & Criteria A.A.R.P. Sponsored by the Kingston Chapter AARP #2039, to two graduating seniors who best exemplify by personal activity, interest and concern, the ability to bring about greater mutual understanding between teenagers and our senior citizen population. SPECIAL APPLICATION Essay response must be typed. American Association of University Women (AAUW) Diversity Award. The AAUW will present two (2) scholarships of $500 each to graduating seniors who have promoted understanding and cooperation within the diverse population of the community. The scholarships can be used for books and other college necessities. American Legion Post 150 Award Presented by Kingston Post No. 150 to seniors in recognition of possession of those high qualities of courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, scholarship and service. SPECIAL APPLICATION A.S.P.A. EDUCATION AWARD -One male and one female student, must be ranked in the top 100 of the Senior Class, pursuing a career in education. There is an essay required. SPECIAL APPLICATION Barry A. DeForest Memorial Scholarship - this scholarship is given to a graduating high school student who is attending an accredited college, university, vocational school or online education program in the fall with a GPA of 75 or higher. This college bound student must have participated in two or more sports while attending Kingston High School. Betty Hendrickson Scholarship Fund. To be given to a graduating senior who attended Miller Middle School and will be pursuing a degree in education. Bloomington Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship. This scholarship is to be awarded to one or more students residing in the Bloomington/Binnewater Fire Protection District. The scholarship will be paid to the college by the treasurer at the beginning of the student's second semester. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS Award Amount 2/ 2/ 2/ UP TO Boys & Girls Club of Ulster County - Alumni-Helen Bruno Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be presented to two graduating seniors who are or have been a member of the Kingston Boys & Girls 2/ club and have been accepted into an institute of higher learning. Boys & Girls Club of Ulster County Alumni-John Stote Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be presented to a graduating senior who is or has been a member of the Kingston Boys & Girls club and $1,000.00 has been accepted into an institute of higher learning. Boys & Girls Club of Ulster County - Karen Erena Memorial Scholarship. Presented by the Kingston Boys & Girls Club to a former Boys & Girls member who will be continuing his/her education and who $1,000.00 exhibits good academic standing and need. Boys & Girls Club of Ulster County Alumni-Ward W. Ingalsbe, Jr. Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be presented to a graduating senior who is or has been a member of the Kingston Boys $1,000.00 & Girls club and has been accepted into an institute of higher learning. Bulldog Band Booster Club Scholarship. To a graduating senior band member of Kingston High School who is a former J.W. Bailey student who successfully completed membership in the J.W. Bailey School band for the three years he/she was at J.W. Bailey. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS AVAILABLE IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE. Coach House Players Scholarship. Graduating seniors entering the fields of drama and music (vocal/instrumental) SPECIAL APPLICATIONS TEACHER 2/ RECOMMENDATION REQUIRED. David L. Carter Memorial Scholarship. In memory of David L. Carter, this scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who will be continuing his/her education in the medical profession. $50.00

Dolores Freese Memorial Scholarship - Is given by the Women's Club of Rosendale, applicants must be a Town of Rosendale resident, be accepted to and plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college beginning in September 2018. Selection based on merit, with financial need as secondary consideration. SPECIAL APPLICATION SPECIAL MAILING INSTRUCTIONS AND DEADLINE - APRIL 20, 2018. Donald J. Sweeney Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship is presented to a graduating male senior who plans to pursue a career in the field of education. PFC Douglas Cordo Memorial Fund Scholarship - to be awarded to two students going into Law Enforcement or with immediate family in the military, past or present. SPECIAL APPLICATION Dr. Cy Gruberg Scholarship- presented to a graduating student who exemplifies scholarship, character, leadership and service and who has been accepted at a four-year college or university. (This scholarship is paid to the Bursar of the college upon matriculation) Dr. George Clarke Rifenbary Memorial Scholarship. Is awarded to two deserving graduating seniors for use to further their education in any chosen trade or vocational school, community college or university. Edward W. Murdock Sr. Memorial Scholarship. To be awarded to a graduating senior of Kingston High School or John A. Coleman High School who is a resident of the Port Ewen Fire District and will be continuing his/her education and be accepted at a college, university or tech school. Must have a statement from guidance counselor verifying information and grades and have participated in diversified extracurricular activities. SPECIAL APPLICATION Fooshe Memorial Scholarship. Established by June VanKeuren Fooshe in memory of her grandmother, Eliza Roosa VanKeuren to be awarded annually to two students of Hurley, New York who will be furthering their education. Friends of the Rosendale Library - Anna Mae Auchmoedy/Lottie Burns Scholarship - all applicants must be residents of the Town of Rosendale. This award is to be applied toward tuition or the purchase of books. SPECIAL APPLICATION AND INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE MAILED DIRECTLY, OR DROPPED OFF TO ROSENDALE LIBRARY, APRIL 13, 2018 DEADLINE. George N. Betts Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is a $5,000 award presented to a graduating senior of Kingston High School who has been active both in the school and the community; who has performed well scholastically; and who has decided to further his or her education in theatre arts at a college or university or school for the arts. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS AVAILABLE IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE. TRANSCRIPT MUST BE INCLUDED. Hugh M. Spoljaric "Bottom Line" Scholarship. This $500 award is made possible by the Kingston Teachers Federation in honor of Hugh M. Spoljaric, a long time teacher and President of the Federation, who unselfishly gave his time, energy, and attention to his students, colleagues, and community. This award will be presented to a student who has a vision of a responsible community of reasonable people working together for the common good. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS AVAILABLE IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE. Hurley Lions Club Achievement Scholarship. To seniors of Kingston High School, John A. Coleman High School, Onteora High School who are residents of the Town of Hurley. The students must be admitted to an accredited college, at least a two year program. (Award is based upon need, scholastic achievement and citizenship) Any student who is physically challenged will be given special consideration. Isabelle Malone Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is given to a graduating senior who is in the top 20% of their class, has demonstrated good citizenship through high school, has been admitted to attend a four year college or university, and is believed to have the ability to complete a four year college degree. Financial needs will be considered, but will not be a sole factor. The award will be paid directly to the bursar of the college/university. J. Richard & Margaret D.B. Miller Scholarship. This scholarship is presented to the most deserving senior in the district whose overall high school cumulative average was most improved during the senior year and who has been accepted for admission at an institution of higher learning. Jewish Federation of Ulster County Scholarship - Dr. Cy Gruberg Award - Applicants must be area Jewish graduating high school seniors whose acts or deeds have made a significant contribution to our community. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS AVAILABLE IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE, SPECIAL DEADLINE & MAILING INSTRUCTIONS. John L. Ascarino Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to the graduating senior with the highest academic average who graduated from the George Washington School where Mr. Ascarino served as principal and who is continuing his or her education. John J. Post Memorial Scholarship. In memory of John J. Post, a graduate of the KHS class of 1964, this scholarship is sponsored by Mary Post. Mr. Post served four years in the United States Marine Corp with a tour in Vietnam. To be eligible for this scholarship an individual needs to write a short essay on what it means to me to be an American. Please include the essay with the application. GENERIC APPLICATION WITH REQUIRED ESSAY. Joseph S. Lawson Sr. Memorial Scholarship Awards. In memory of Joseph S. Lawson Sr., in honor of his many years of dedicated service to the Kingston area community, up to three awards will be presented to Kingston area high school graduates planning to pursue a degree program at an institution of higher learning or a recognized vocational training program. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS AVAILABLE IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE. Joseph Misasi Scholarship - This scholarship is being given by his family and the VFW in his memory to a deserving senior. SPECIAL APPLICATION The Joseph F. Riccio Jr. Scholarship Fund is offering one or more scholarships in the amount of to a graduating senior. Joseph was a kind and caring person. He was a well rounded student and will always be remembered for his love of life, dedication to his academics and his love of sports and music. Applicants must have an 85% or above average and have participated in sports, music, and school clubs as well as volunteered within the community. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS AVAILABLE IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE. Joyce D. Bryant Memorial Scholarship. This award is given in memory of Joyce Diane Bryant who, in 1981 at age 18, was killed by a drunken driver. It is presented to the most deserving student in Photography going on to higher education. Joyce-Shirick Post 1386 VFW - Ladies Auxiliary Award - This award is presented to a graduating senior for excellence in the subject of American History. Junior League of Kingston Florence Cordts Scholarship - Applicant must be a female college bound high school senior in Ulster County that demonstrates a strong commitment to volunteering and plans to further her education. The recipient must show contributions to her community through volunteer service. SPECIAL APPLICATION AND DEADLINE. Kenneth "Kenny" D. Wyman, Jr. Scholarship. In memory of Kenneth D. Wyman this scholarship is offered to a senior attending Kingston High School who will be pursuing his or her studies in criminal justice and/or law in an out-of-state college or university. Applicant must be in good academic standing. $100.00 $50.00 $75.00 4/ $50.00 $150.00 $1,000.00

KHS Class of 1956 Scholarship - In Memory of Janet Tacorchick Kolts. Applicants must have participated in a music program through his or her senior year. Financial need is also a consideration. KHS Class of 1968 - In Honor of Classmates - This scholarship will be awarded to a hard working, motivated student. Good attendance is a must. The committee is searching for a student of high moral character with a sense of civic duty. KHS Class of 2013 Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who is maintaining an 85% GPA, displays exceptional school/class spirit and involvement at Kingston High School. A resume is required for selection which includes a list of activities the student was involved in from grades 9-12. KHS Class of 2015 Scholarship - Centenial Award. This scholarship will be presented to a senior who has actively participated in their class (in both meetings and activities) and who has demonstrated great leadership qualities. King's Fire Church - To be awarded to the children of volunteer Firefighters/Military/Police Officers. Kingston Rotary Club Scholarship. Awarded to two KHS seniors who have excelled in academics and have demonstrated leadership in community and school activities, especially through service to others. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS Kiwanis Club of Kingston Scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors. The recipients may use the money for entrance to any chosen school of higher education. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS KSQ-BBL Architecture-Construction -Engineering Scholarship. Will be given to two graduating seniors with an interest in pursuing studies in the Architecture/Contruction/Engineering industry and with a special consideration given to students in the ACE Mentor Program. Leo J. Doheny Memorial Prize Award. To two graduating seniors earning a diploma with the highest overall Social Studies average. Louis A. Salzmann Memorial Scholarship. Given in memory of Louis A. Salzmann, a scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has attended Kingston City Schools Consolidated from kindergarten through grade 12 and has contributed to the school district by his/her overall scholastic and extra-curricular achievements. Made in Kingston. This scholarship is to be awarded to a student with a GPA of an 85, or higher, who resides in the City of Kingston. The student must be accepted into an institution of higher learning, with a goal of pursuing a career in technology or the visual & performing arts. This does not necessarily have to be the student's intended major. Students are required to submit a brief statement about their background in technology and/or visual & performing arts. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS MAPLE RIDGE/WOODCREST COMMUNITIES AWARD - This award is presented to students who show determination to succeed either through further education or work. The student must demonstrate honesty, hard work, compassion, and be a positive role model for other students. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS MARIAN PAGE GREGORY EDUCATION AWARD - This scholarship is presented to a graduating senior who plans to major in the field of education at either SUNY New Paltz or SUNY Albany, has shown leadership potential and been involved in the school community. $1,500.00 2/ 2/$2,000 2/$25.00 $300.00 $750.00 $1,000

Martin Laforse Memorial Scholarship of the Kingston Library. A $1000.00 scholarship is given annually to a deserving senior from the Kingston High School who plans to major in liberal arts at a school of higher learning. Students are required to submit an essay not to exceed 500 words responding to the question: How did a reading or library experience have an important impact on your life? The award is based on the essay's quality, as well as the student's academic standing, financial need and a letter of recommendation. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS MC Miller Music Boosters Scholarship. Three scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who have been outstanding members of the KHS Band, Chorus or Orchestra who have successfully completed a three-year membership in the Miller School Music program and who have been accepted at a college or university as a full time student. Applicants must be in good standing at KHS as well as in their respective music program and must have made positive contributions to the organization. SPECIAL APPLICATION SPECIAL SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS. $1000 & $500 3/$150.00 Michael Higgins Memorial Award. To a graduating student of good character, with outstanding achievements in mathematics. Mr. & Mrs. Charles Walton Award. Given to two pupils in KHS having the highest marks in the subject area of Art and Music who shall be entering college. 2/$75.00 Musical Society of Kingston Award. To a student in the graduating class who has shown the greatest growth and development in individual proficiency and general participation in musical activities. Pointe of Praise Family Life Center -Awarded in rememberance of Mrs. Zelma Harrison who was a Kingston School Board Trustee and a strong advocate of education for all children. This scholarship is given to graduating students who will be attending an institute of higher learning. Port Ewen Athletic Association Scholarship. Presented to two graduating seniors, ONE MALE and ONE FEMALE, who are residents of the Town of Esopus, have been accepted as a full time student at an accredited institute of higher learning, and demonstrate active and ongoing participation in athletic endeavors. Preference may be given to applicants that have participated in PEAA sports. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS AVAILABLE IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE, EXTENDED DEADLINE. Robert F. DePippo Memorial Scholarship. Given in memory of Robert F. DePippo, a graduate of Kingston High School's class of 1980, awarded to a graduating senior who participated in student government, is interested in pursuing a career in law and government and has achieved academically to be ranked in the top 10% of the senior class. Robert R. Graves Memorial Scholarship. Awarded to two graduating students, one male and one female, who are graduates of Robert Graves Elementary School and who are planning to attend college. Participation in clubs, organizations and other activities as service to school and community is a requirement. Ronald and Joan Brandt Memorial Scholarship - presented to a graduating senior with a GPA of 75 or greater and who would be attending an accredited college, trade school or an online educational program. Rondout Valley Little League Scholarship. This scholarship will be presented to a graduating senior who has played baseball or softball for RVLL. Continuation of playing sports will be considered but is not mandatory. The applicants must be of good academic standing and be accepted to an institution of higher learning. Sadie J. & Joseph Gruberg Memorial Scholarship- presented to a graduating student who exemplifies scholarship, character, leadership and service and who has been accepted at a four-year college or university. (This scholarship is paid to the Bursar of the college upon matriculation) 2/$500 & 1/$300 2/ $100.00 2/$150.00

Sean Gleason Memorial Fund Scholarship. Given in memory of Sean Gleason, a scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who will be attending West Point or who will be attending a school in New York State, majoring in engineering. St. Remy Fire Department Auxiliary Award. To a graduating senior residing in the Town of Esopus with the highest academic average and who is furthering his/her education. Stephan Van Kleek Scholarship - Applicants must have good attendance, must have applied themselves to all school work and/or activities fully, must have exhibited good character and citizenship. Commitment to others through community service, church or school is a plus. Town of Ulster Kiwanis Club - to be awarded to up to four graduating students between Coleman and Kingston High Schools. Must be a Town of Ulster resident in good academic standing. Emphasis on volunteerism and community service. Travis Nissen Memorial Scholarship. Two scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who share two of Travis' qualities: participation in Varsity Athletics and a love of the outdoors. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS AVAILABLE IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE and ONE PAGE TYPED ESSAY. Trent Walter Costello Memorial Scholarship - Two scholarships will be awarded annually in memory of KHS 2011 graduate, Trent Costello. The scholarship will be given to a senior girl and boy graduating from KHS who are senior varsity athletes and have maintained an academic average of 90% or higher. The applicants must be accepted as a full time student at an accredited institute of higher learning and plan on majoring in accounting or another business related field. Students will be required to submit an essay. Financial need will be considered. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS AVAILABLE IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE. Ulster Detachment Marine Corps League - Semper Fidelis Award - to be awarded to the most deserving student with a relative who is a US Marine. Ulster County Italian American Foundation Scholarship - This Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit, community activities and plans for enrollment to attend a two-year or four-year institution. SPECIAL APPLICATION AVAILABLE IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE, SPECIAL MAILING INSTRUCTIONS. Ulster County Sheriff's Foundation Scholarship - Applicants should be majoring in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement at SUNY Ulster. Ulster Hose Co. #5 & Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship. Awarded to seniors who reside in the Ulster Hose Co. #5 Fire District and plan to continue their education on a full time basis after graduation. Cioni Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who plans to study at a New York State School in a 2 or 4 year program, especially in the area of Math or Science. $100.00 Wendell A. Scherer Legacy Award. This scholarship will be presented to a graduating senior in good standing who intends to pursue a vocation in teaching at any grade level Pre-K through grade 12 in any subject. The recipient of this award should be a person who is active in his/her school community/the community at large. He/she should possess empathy and the ability to communicate with others, to reach out, encourage and to inspire. SPECIAL APPLICATION IS $1,500.00 White Eagle Benevolent Society Award. Woodstock Fire Department - Applicants must be a graduating senior who is a legal resident of the Town of Woodstock and involved in a community service organization or in community service. Special consideration will be given to Active Emergency Service volunteer parents or guardians.
