Visit Report: IEEE Photonic Society DL program 2017-18 Dr. Ghanshyam Singh, IEEE PS DL awardee for term 2017-18, a Senior Member of IEEE and Associate Professor from Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering) from Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur (India) visited 07 IEEE PS Chapters from Poland, Italy, Australia and Malaysia till December 2017. During these visits, Dr. Singh delivered DL talks on Photonic Integrated Devices and Systems: Technology for next Generation Telecom Networks and attended other technical and informal sessions as well. Dr. Singh lecture was based on recent research trends in the field of Photonics Integrated Devices and Systems. The talk began with the evolution of photonic technologies over the years and about the research that is being carried out in the direction of achieving goals of Integrated Photonics. Apart from recent trends in these areas, the topics that Dr. Singh covered were design and fabrication issues with all optical devices such as switches, couplers, splitters, etc. and their possible solutions. The reason behind discussing these numbers of topics were to encourage young students to work in one of these most sought after research areas and to motivate them to contributes for the progress of integrated photonics. At the end of the presentation, He welcomed queries from the attendees. After the presentation, Dr. Singh and faculty members of above mentioned IEEE PS Chapters went into an informal discussion about the possibilities of collaborative research between Indian and associated Universities with the visited IEEE PS Chapters. The outline of the discussion covered Joint research projects and exchange of students between the universities and research groups. Details of the chapters visited by December 2017.
