This award will be given to a student who shows leadership qualities, and possesses the ability to become an asset to their community. Presented to a senior member of the Community Service Club who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to serve their community. John Knowles, Jr. Memorial Scholarship The Knowles Family & Friends Plaque & Monetary Award ($1000.00) 1. Student must be identified as a Special Needs student; 2. Student must attend a postsecondary school full-time; 3. Student must be of good character; 4. Student must demonstrate traits of good citizenship on a regular basis; 5. If the above four (4) points are equal, participation in athletics at the High School will be considered. 1. Jason D. Rubin Memorial Scholarship Award Celebrating Jason s Passion to Learn and Explore The Rubin Family and Tifereth Israel Synagogue Plaque and Annual Monetary Award (2 @ $500.00) 1. Student should be attending college after their senior year of high school. 2. The winning student shall graduate in the top 15 percent of the graduating class. 3. Student must complete the standard essay and supplemental essay question. Supplemental Essay Question: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? 4. Sponsors will receive a financial statement acknowledging the allocation of the scholarship award to the recipient s college education. Ryan Kyle Wilson Memorial OTN Award The Wilson Family Monetary Award ($500) to be applied to higher education. Check to be made payable to recipient s school of choice. Presented to a senior student who meets the following criteria: 1. Senior AV student who demonstrates a strong interest in the AV program, and who goes above and beyond the requirements of the class. 2. Student who normally works behind the scenes and shows talent in the AV field. 3. Maintains 2.75 GPA or better. Class of 2017 Minete Zeta Memorial Scholarship The Class of 2017 Monetary Award 1. Award will be given to a student with a 3.0 GPA 2. Arnold Ody Make a Difference Award Jessica Ody and Heather Ody-Snyder Monetary Award This award will be given to a boy or girl who: 1. Has served his or her community throughout his or her high school career. 2. Plans to go to a two or four year school in a field related to public service. 3. Kiwanis Club of Bensalem Community Service Scholarship Award Kiwanis Club of Bensalem Township School District Monetary Award ($1000.00) Award is based on a point system. Points are awarded based on: 1. Volunteering more than 5 hours per week; 2. Students who have been recognized by other organizations for their efforts. For example, if he/she was ever given an award or had his/her name published in a third-party publication; 3. Students whose efforts have made a significant difference to their organizations. For example, someone who volunteers regularly in the community and/or who brings great public awareness to a specific cause; 4. Volunteers who hold a title or position of authority in an organization, but a title in which the volunteer is active. Not, for example, an honorary chairperson in which the volunteer just lends his/her name; 5. Students who have volunteered with a particular organization/s for a long period of time, or who have made great strides in an organization/s in a relatively short period of time. Excellence in Business Award Business Technology Department Monetary Award This award will be given to a boy or girl who: 1. Has at least a 3.5 cumulative average, 2. Will be attending a 4-year post-secondary institution majoring in Business or Computer Science, 3. Has participated in at least one (1) Outside Community Service Program, i.e., at a hospital, nursing home, day care, church, synagogue, etc. (NOT THE SCHOOL ACTIVITY) The Business Technology Department Complete Standard Application 21

Must be in upper half of class or accepted by a College; 2. Must submit an application; 3. Student must signify he/she will enroll in at least a two-year full-time day course in a school above secondary level. It does include business and nursing fields; 4. If student doesn t use it the year it is presented, scholarship goes to next in line according to the voting. Students are asked to supply the college information by mid-july and checks are then processed. 5. B.T.E.A. Scholarship Bensalem Township Education Association Monetary Award (3 @ $1000.00 each) 1. All interested students will complete an application; 2. The committee screens the applications for: a. Need b. Scholarship c. Probability of college success d. Service-oriented career choice e. We try to use the money awarded where it will do the most good 3. All decisions are based upon the information provided on the application form submitted B.T.E.A. Bensalem School District Custodial/Maintenance Scholarship Award Barbra Ferguson Cornwells Elementary School Head Custodian Chairperson, Scholarship Committee Nancy Kelly Cornwells Elementary School Custodian Scholarship Committee Member Three (3) $500.00 scholarships vocational program This award will be given to at least one male and one female student who: 1. Attends a post high school technical or 2. Has attained a 2.75 GPA Custodial/Maintenance Scholarship Committee and High School Administration Complete Standard Application 24

Class of 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976 Memorial Scholarship Classes of 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1976 Monetary Award 1. This award shall be considered to be in recognition of outstanding participation and achievement in the area of extra-curricular activities at the high school. 2. Student must have been accepted to an institution of higher learning. 3. Financial need will be considered. 4. Student will complete an application, listing all extra-curricular activities including athletic and co-curricular areas. 5. Student must not have received any other monetary award from the high school. Special Faculty Committee including the Advisor of 1973 as well as appropriate high school administrative staff Complete Standard Application 25

Class of 1996 Scholarship Class of 1996 Monetary Award - $500 every other year beginning with Class of 2001. (Awarded in 2015, we will skip 2016, Award in 2017, skip 2018) 1. Student must have an unweighted GPA of at least 2.5 2. Student must have been involved in at least 3 co-curricular activities in each of their 4 years at Bensalem. 3. The recipient of this award must be actively involved in school activities, show leadership ability, and pride in Bensalem. Senior Class Advisor(s) and Administrator overseeing senior activities and one (1) of Class of 96 officers, if available. Complete Standard Application * If the criteria is not fully met, the scholarship will not be awarded for that year. 26

Class of 2008 Pride Scholarship Class of 2008 Monetary Award of $500 given every year beginning with Class of 2009. 1. Student must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. 2. Student must have been actively involved in at least 2 activities a year for 2 years, one of which must be 12 th grade. 3. Student must display an overall commitment to BHS in terms of school involvement, spirit, and pride. Class of 2008 Officers and Advisor Completion of the required short essay in addition to the standard application Essay In the past, the Homecoming Pep Rally was held after school where only a fraction of BHS students attended. During their senior year, the Class of 2008 revived school spirit by holding an in-school pep rally for the entire student body, an event that had not occurred in 13 years. Through this event, they were able to restore a sense of school spirit and pride that had been missing from the hallways of BHS. What have you done in your time at BHS to personify school spirit, pride, and dedication? 27

Benjamin Rush Elementary School Scholarship Benjamin Rush PTG $500.00 Scholarship This award will be given to a boy or girl who: 1. has at least a 3.0 cumulative average; 2. will be attending a 2 or 4-year postsecondary institution; 3. has participated in at least one (1) school and one (1) outside Community Service Program, or part-time job 4. attended Benjamin Rush Elementary School for at least four (4) years. Struble Award Mr. Russell Struble, Jr. and Bensalem Rotary Monetary Award 1. This particular award shall be presented to a graduating senior who intends to pursue a career in the teaching of mathematics and/or science. 2. The recipient of this award shall be a person who is not receiving any other award, cash or otherwise, at the same awards program. A special committee composed of at least one science staff member and a mathematics staff member together with some guidance personnel shall nominate one person. This name shall then be submitted for the Awards Program. Not necessary 33
