Asbestos Awareness Training and Safety Act 2011. Amongst these is the requirement for all employers to train their staff when they are aware that they are working in or around asbestos. This course provides the skills and knowledge to identify asbestos. The course is ideal for those who work around asbestos but are not needing to remove it or need to remove less than 10m2. On successful completion of this asbestos awareness training course will enable participants to: Historical uses and potential sources of asbestos in the workplace with examples Legal obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act and Asbestos Codes of Practice Asbestos identification, risk assessment approaches, asbestos register and asbestos management plan Describe the safety requirements of working with asbestos Implement emergency procedures when dealing with asbestos incidents. QUALIFICATION: A Certificate of Completion is issued to successful participants and helps demonstrate a employer approach to due diligence requirements as well as obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act. Please note that this is an awareness course only. None can be completed online 24 hours a day / 7 days per week. This course provides the skills and knowledge necessary to remove non-friable asbestos. It is ideal for those who may have had previously worked with removing asbestos, those needing to upgrade their training under the WHS Act or those looking to enter the asbestos removal industry. CPCCBC4051A Supervise asbestos removal Asbestos removal projects require direction by a licensed Asbestos Supervisor. The Asbestos Supervisor has the responsibility for assuring that other workers are adequately equipped and trained for the work and that owners/controllers of work premises, regulators, employees and other interested parties are informed and advised of risks associated with asbestos removal work. The Supervisor is also responsible for controlling risks, implementing health and safety procedures and for safe and compliant asbestos removal and disposal. This course provides the skills and knowledge necessary to supervise friable and non-friable asbestos removal projects. This course is ideal for those who already hold a Class A or Class B asbestos removal license and are ready for the next step in career responsibility. Successful completion of this asbestos supervisor training course will enable participants to: Supervise the safe and compliant removal of all types of asbestos Know how to plan for and implement control measures for removal projects Plan and implement use of correct personal protection equipment and decontamination procedures consistent with the requirements of the project Understand and effectively communicate legal and regulatory obligations for asbestos removal to other parties who are required to be notified Be able to recognize and communicate to workers, site-specific risks associated with asbestos removal and to effectively communicate strategies for avoiding risks Be able to specify and utilise supplies and equipment appropriate for the project Understand and implement the correct safety requirements for a variety of asbestos removal projects including understanding air monitoring procedures/results Implement and direct emergency procedures when dealing with asbestos incidents Identify different asbestos materials, interpret and communicate the contents of asbestos registers, develop asbestos removal control plans and to coordinate equipment and personnel for an effective and compliant removal. CPCCBC5014A Conduct Asbestos Assessment Associated with Removal This module teaches the required skills and knowledge for asbestos assessors to visually inspect and use a range of measuring devices to undertake the monitoring of airborne asbestos fibres in the workplace. Such monitoring and testing is an integral part of identifying hazards, assessing risks, monitoring the effectiveness of controls, and ensuring that the workplace is free of asbestos fibres prior to reoccupation. Successful completion of this asbestos assessor training course will enable participants to: Plan for assessment process of asbestos removal. Prepare to collect site measurements and other data Use measuring devices to collect site information and data Complete the monitoring process Evaluate and document results of monitoring process according to accredited laboratory requirements A Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for CPCCBC5014A Conduct Asbestos Removal Associated with Removal is issued to successful participants helps demonstrate a assessor approach to due diligence requirements as well as environmental management. LENGTH: For tertiary educated participants with industry experience, a 2-day accelerated program is available. For others, the theory and practice is presented face-to-face over four days. Government guidelines suggest 40 nominal hours to complete this but individual completion times vary depending on prior skills and knowledge in the area.
