CHC30312 Certificate III in Home and Community Care The Community Services sector in Australia is growing rapidly and there is an increasing need for skilled, qualified workers. We are happy that you are interested in developing your career by completing the Certificate III in Home and Community Care with 3Bridges Community! Who is this qualification designed for? This qualification is relevant to the community services workers who provide a frontline service or anyone who wishes to become a Home and Community Care worker. Typical job titles may be care assistant, community care worker, disability support worker, food services deliverer, home care worker, in-home respite giver, home Why choose to study with 3Bridges Community? maintenance worker, personal care worker, transport support worker or support worker. 3Bridges Community highly values the role of Home and Community Care workers in Australia and our trainers have practical experience within the Home and Community Care industry as well as experience in providing quality training and adult education. We provide flexible options for learning, via workshops or using Recognition of Prior Learning. Our workshops are highly engaging, interactive and enjoyable. You will have the opportunity to learn with other workers in the community services sector, share ideas and build an ongoing network. You are also required to complete 40 hours supervised work placement in a suitable Community Care agency, to enhance your learning experience. For the work placement component, a training plan will be developed to allow you to undertake specific activities under supervision of a workplace supervisor. The duration of the work placement may be programmed to be carried out progressively over the same time that the classroom training and assessments are being conducted or immediately following completion of the classroom training and assessment. Entry requirements Oral communication and effective interpersonal communication skills Learners are expected to complete Language, Numeracy and Literacy test during enrolment Current Police Clearance Certificate check is usually required by the work placement organisation Suitability for working in the aged care sector What subjects will I cover? There are fourteen (14) units of competency that must be completed to attain CHC30312 Certificate III in Home and Community Care. This includes four (4) core units and ten (10) elective units. All of these units are offered through 3Bridges Community. Along with attending face to face sessions all learners are required to complete assessment tasks in their own time. This extra work may include research, further reading and a compulsory 40 hour work placement under supervision. If you believe you may have trouble finding a suitable work placement please contact us before you enrol. Can I have my current skills and knowledge recognised? Yes! You may choose to undertake Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for any of the units of this course. Contact the Training and Development Coordinator on 8558 4000 to discuss how to begin the process. How long will it take to complete the qualification? Time frames for each student depend on a number of factors, including your own schedule, the method you choose to complete the course such as RPL or attending workshops, and if you need to resubmit any assessment tasks. Most students will be able to complete the Certificate in Home and Community Care within one year; however, you may take up to two years. When can I start? There are a number of intakes each year for Certificate III in Home and Community Care. The first course starts on Tuesday 3 rd February 2015, running every Tuesday until the end of June 2015. How do I enrol? Simply complete the registration form, the expression of interest form and provide 100 point for identification purposes in this application package and return to 3Bridges Community via email, fax or post. What is the cost? As a not for profit, community based organisation, 3Bridges Community heavily subsidises student fees. Each student will be invoiced on enrolment. Subsequent payments will be invoiced on a quarterly basis. To complete the course using RPL, the fee is 75% of the full fee. 3Bridges regularly sources funding for training to keep costs down. If you are currently working in the aged, disability or home and community care sector, there are a number of partially funded places available for the February 2015 intake. Course fee now $900. If you are not working in the sector, the fee is $1800. What assessments are required? Such services are offered through a range of activities and resources including one-on-one learning support appointments, personalised assignment feedback and revision sessions. If you need help at any stage throughout your course, our friendly trainers are on hand to assist. What is included in the cost? All workshops and assessments, comprehensive feedback, all course materials including Learner Resource Books and Learner Workbooks, support from tutors and staff, and statement of attainment or qualification at the completion of the course. Qualification Your academic transcript and nationally recognised qualification will be issued by 3Bridges Community and sent to your postal address.
