CNA (NURSE 085) REQUIRED COURSEWORK English,098,092,098W or test placement into English 101 Courses will need to be completed the semester before applying to the program. No courses can be in-progress at the time of application.
CO-REQUISITE:NURSE 084A This 24-27 hour course provides the opportunity for students enrolled in skill based certified nursing program to practice and master skills necessary for safe patient care.
APPLICATION PROCESS 1. Student must attend a CNAWorkshop 2. Apply to the program during the application period. Spring Semester:October 1 st -15 th Fall Semester: May 1 st -15 th 3. Once accepted into the program;students will then receive the Pre-Registration Packet to complete.
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) Department of Justice fingerprint clearance (LiveScan through MSJC form only) Immunizations Proof of negative TB test Physician Certificate of adequate physical health (MSJC form only).
RANDOM/LOTTERY SELECTION PROCESS Approximately select 30 students each Fall and Spring Semester (No Summer programs). EXAMPLE: Accepted 30 students and 3 alternates. 9x/10 alternates are accepted!
LECTURE & SKILLS LAB HOURS LECTURE: 65-72 hours/semester Lecture - Once or Twice a week Example:Wednesdays 1:00pm-5:00pm SKILLS LAB HOURS: 27 Hours/semester one hour orientation required. Starts second week of semester.
CLINICAL HOURS CLINICAL: 104 hours/semester (13 weeks) Start Clinical hours 4 th week of semester Prior to the start of Patient Care 4 hour Clinical Orientation. If holiday falls on a Friday or Monday,no clinical on Saturday No clinicals during Spring Break. Clinical days are usually on eitherthursday or Saturday. Student cannot choose clinical days/schedules assigned. * IFALL HOURSARE NOT COMPLETED,YOUWILL NOT BEALLOWEDTO SIT FOR NNAAP STATE EXAM FOR CERTIFICATION.

COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS Required: 5 hours entire semester Example: Attend SWANS meeting = 2 hours Attend Health Fairs or Health related community events. Hours must be signed off by Faculty attending the event.
UNIFORM/DRESS CODE Theory/Clinical/Skills Lab Uniform (Dove) Shoes/Socks Skills Lab, Theory, Clinical Red Top Black Pant White Tennis Shoes Only (No flip flops, heels, clogs, flats, slippers, etc.) White Socks Nails Fingernails must be clean,neat,and fingertip length only. No polish may be worn. No artificial or acrylic nails or components there of are permitted. (Refer to Universal Precautions Policy). Makeup May be worn in moderation.
UNIFORM/DRESS CODE Jewelry Only wedding rings or plain,simple rings are permitted (maximum one ring per hand). Piercing No piercing or jewelry/hardware may be evident except for one small (2.0-3.8mm) stud earring in each ear. No objects of any type may be worn in the tongue,nose,eyebrow,lip,face, etc.no dangling earrings. Tattoos All tattoos must be covered at all times.
