BASIC FIRST AID This 3 hour course is suitable as whole staff training for up to 40 people. It is similar to the Appointed Person/Basic Skills Refresher course that HSE strongly recommend as an annual refresher for those who have completed a statutory First Aid at Work qualification. This course is appropriate for all staff, in particular those who may need to deputise in the absence of the main first aider. It is also suitable for staff who may lead or accompany educational visits. Vital signs - level of consciousness, breathing, temperature, colour Incident management Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation Choking Bleeding - internal/external, minor/major Treating damage - suspected fractures, head, neck and back injuries Poisoning Burns and scalds Common illnesses - asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, anaphylaxis Legal issues ANAPHYLAXIS (Epipen) TRAINING This 1 hour course covers the management of anaphylaxis and the correct use of an auto injector (epipen). This course is appropriate for all staff in schools or businesses where anaphylaxis is identified as a risk. Vital signs - level of consciousness Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation Anaphylaxis symptoms Correct use of an auto injector 3 hours Non assessed. EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK (LEVEL 3) The QA Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) qualification is designed for individuals who wish to act as an emergency first aider in their workplace. This course is designed for people who need/want to receive training in emergency first aid for low risk work places as well as for people interested in gaining a better understanding of Emergency First Aid. The roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aider Assessing an incident Managing an unresponsive casualty CPR and defibrillation Recovery position Choking Seizures Shock Wounds and bleeding Minor injuries Cuts, grazes and bruises Minor burns and scalds EMERGENCY PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID (LEVEL 3) The QA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification has been designed in line with the current Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements. Those who have gained a level 2 or 3 childcare qualification and have entered into an early years setting and wish to be included in the staff to child ratios to comply with the EYFS requirements. Anyone who cares for infants and children, such as parents, guardians, grandparents or those who have an involvement with infants and children and want to learn key paediatric first aid skills. The roles and responsibilities of an emergency paediatric first aider Assessing an emergency situation Dealing with an unresponsive infant or child Recovery position CPR and AED Choking Minor injuries, bites, stings & seizures External bleeding, hypovolemic shock 1 day throughout the course, followed by a straightforward multiple choice questionnaire. PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID (LEVEL 3) This course is for those who might have to identify and manage emergency situations or manage minor everyday occurrences when looking after children (defined as up to puberty). This qualification meets Ofsted requirements for those working in early years settings and uses the criteria for effective paediatric first aid training found in Appendix 1, of The Early Years Foundation Stags (EYFS) Practice Guidance document. The current EYFS statutory framework requires at least one person who has a current paediatric first aid certificate to be on the premises or outings at all times when children are present. FIRST AID AT WORK (LEVEL 3) This 3 day course provides the comprehensive training needed to become a confident first aider at work. Candidates will gain practical experience as well as the knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies. This course is designed for people who need/want to receive training in first aid for higher risk work places. Or for people interested in gaining a better understanding and skills in First Aid. During this 2 day course, candidates will have the opportunity to learn the latest techniques for dealing with emergency situations and managing injuries and illnesses in the workplace. COMBINED FIRST AID AT WORK AND PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID (LEVEL 3) Combining the QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) and the QA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) into 3 extended days of classroom learning, this specially designed course enables candidates to gain the skills and knowledge needed to provide both adult and paediatric first aid, whilst minimising the number of training days required to achieve both qualifications. Those who work in settings that require both first aiders and paediatric first aiders, such as schools, sports clubs or other childcare settings. FIRE SAFETY AWARENESS (LEVEL 1) The QA Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those who want to increase their awareness of fire safety in the workplace. Candidates will learn basic fire safety principles in order to ensure they are keeping themselves and others in the workplace safe at all times. PRINCIPLES OF COSHH (LEVEL 2) The QA Level 2 Award in Principles of COSHH (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification specifically designed to provide candidates with a basic knowledge of COSHH regulations and requirements. PRINCIPLES OF MANUAL HANDLING (LEVEL 2) The QA Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification, designed to cover the basic principles of manual handling. This theory based qualification is ideal for all employees as it provides candidates with an awareness of safe manual handling practices and the risks of unsafe manual handling. EDUCATIONAL VISITS COORDINATOR (EVC) TRAINING This Outdoor Education Advisers Panel (OEAP) accredited course covers aspects of law related to educational visits, risk assessment of visits and the administrative requirements associated with off-site educational activities. It is delivered by an accredited OEAP course director. The course will enable EVCs to plan and manage their schools educational visits and off-site activities in line with National Guidance and current good practice, and thus help fulfil their Health & Safety obligations. This course is aimed at new and existing EVCs in Independent Schools, Foundation Schools and Academies. The course is also appropriate for EVCs in other schools where their employer (eg. Local Authority) does not provide such training, or where this has been agreed by their employer as a suitable alternative. 1 day There is no assessment. This course is certificated by the Outdoor Education Advisers Panel (OEAP). 500+vat for up to 12 candidates This course aims to equip staff with the key requirements to become a competent EVC. The course outlines key considerations in planning an educational visit, updating participants with current good practice in the supervision of young people. VISIT LEADER TRAINING This Outdoor Education Advisers Panel (OEAP) accredited course is classroom based and is focused on the planning and management of educational visits and off-site activities. It is delivered by an accredited OEAP course director. This course is aimed at all staff who lead or accompany visits and off-site activities. This course aims to equip staff with the key requirements to become a competent Visit Leader. The course outlines key considerations in planning an educational visit, updating participants with current good practice in the supervision of young people. The course provides training in strategies used for risk management and risk assessment off-site, and will include sessions on: Benefits and perceived barriers of off site visits Planning, leading and evaluating off site activities and visits Group management Risk assessment training Policy compliance 3 hours There is no assessment. EVOLVE USER TRAINING This training course is the only official EVOLVE approved user training, and will be adapted to suit your needs. The course will focus on the active and effective use of EVOLVE. and will covers all user aspects. Please note that this is not a substitute for EVC or Visit Leader Training.
