Dear Frieds, I 2017 we celebrated Home Care Parters 60th aiversary i style. All staff, Board ad recet retirees were feted at our aual meetig i May where we recogized may outstadig ad log-servig employees. I October, frieds ad supporters i the commuity joied us for a eveig of celebratio to lear about High Touch i a High-Tech World. The Hoorable Eleaor Holmes Norto shared opeig remarks ad remided the audiece of the cotiuig critical eed for Home Care Parters services. Dr. Sadra Crewe, Board Member, ad Quee Cook, the HCP aide with the greatest seiority, were featured speakers, reflectig from persoal ad professioal experiece o the ways the home care professio both has ad has t chaged over the years. Home Care Parters is ready to meet ew challeges as we eter our seveth decade. Our Board of Directors adopted a ew Strategic Pla, ad we are excited to cotiue workig with our parters i the rewardig work of servig vulerable adults i our commuity. Despite the growth of techology to facilitate some aspects of our operatios, the actual provisio of care still requires a persoal touch. 2017 Accomplishmets High Touch i a High-Tech World The Frech have a sayig, the more thigs chage, the more they remai the same. I the sixty years that Home Care Parters has provided home care aide services i the DC metropolita area, a lot has chaged. The area has grow from what used to be characterized as a sleepy souther tow to a major metropolita area. Our clietele are seiors ad vulerable adults, rather tha families with youg childre who we iitially served. But much has remaied costat as well. We still isist o quality traiig for all aides, except ow it s regulated through the Board of Nursig. I 2017, we cotiued to parter with key agecies i DC, Arligto, Motgomery ad Price George s Couties, without whose support our cliets would ot be able to afford the home care they eed. We provided home care aide services to approximately 1,000 seiors ad adults with disabilities with a total of 205,719 hours of service. To do so, we employed over 220 certified home care aides ad 11 social work ad urse case maagers who oversee the aides ad all cliet care. Through our Traiig Istitute, i 2017 all HCP aides participated i their bieial skills review i which they had to demostrate proficiecy i 12 critical home care skills. Through our DC Caregivers Istitute ad family caregiver programs, we provided a respite stiped ad educatioal materials ad support to 228 family caregivers. The differece these services make were summed up by oe cliet: [The caregiver service] has made a very positive impact o my saity, kept mom i the home for care ad helps me be a better caregiver. Our Safe at Home partership with the DC Office o Agig eabled us to provide occupatioal therapy assessmets ad home modificatios to 608 cliets to address barriers to mobility ad reduce the potetial fall risks i their homes. [The caregiver service] has made a very positive impact o my saity, kept mom i the home for care ad helps me be a better caregiver.
