Purpose of the role : Provide the initial referral screening procedures on entry to RWR, and upon the completion of vocational readiness procedures, to liaise between the client and other RWR services; the referral source; employers; educator and other vocational skills development providers to enable clients career, work or educational pathway. Provides occupational therapy input to RWR service delivery to ensure the provision of efficient, effective and high quality services to clients, with particular focus on the: Career Development Centre Work Service Rehabilitation interventions are developed and adapted to meet client needs and identified client readiness and rehabilitation goals. Identified client rehabilitation goals are developed through individual or group interventions. Actively participates in regular RWR meeting forums including monthly in-service sessions. Contributes to development of the RWR Business Plan actively participating in planning forums and working parties to identify and operationalise service directions. Provide input to the overall, ongoing management of the Career Development Centre and the Work service: Equipment Furnishings Budgets Workplace environment Consumer participation. Administration Instructs staff and clients in correct career development procedures and methods Ensures client work stations and work sites adhere to health and safety requirements and are ergonomically appropriate. Ensures costs and expenditure are controlled within budgets and allocated resources, in consultation with the Team Leader. Assists in assessing the profitability, risk factors and therapeutic benefits of the Vocational Development Centre following established RWR business plan format. Ensures that the Career Development Centre operates under the principles of consumer participation by being involved in regular consumer/ staff business and decision making meetings. Liases with the client s key worker/ case manager to effectively manage presenting clinical, social and treatment issues that are affecting the worker s workplace performance. Provision of mental health services to clients Processes and screens referrals to RWR To participate in quality improvement to improve service delivery outcomes and client satisfaction. Client assessments are completed as indicated, according to individual client need and their established vocational/ educational goals. Ensures rehabilitation interventions are planned and implemented in partnership with the client, and with consultation with primary care teams, keyworkers, identified significant others and other relevant RWR team members. Ensures screening criteria, client assessments, career development tools and vocational rehabilitation interventions are subject to ongoing evaluation and regular updating. Communicates in a timely fashion to the relevant key worker, mental health team or forensic psychiatry team, relevant observations regarding client s work performance, appearance, behaviour, mental state and personal problems. Presents clients progress, goals and rehab plans at regular RWR client review meetings and, when prescheduled or as indicated, at other clinical team reviews. Obtains appropriate information to ensure an adequate understanding of necessary precautions, hazards and alerts. Ensures that updated information regarding client needs is received and incorporated into interventions. Ensures client confidentiality while job seeking etc., by exploring sensitive issues with the view of gaining prior- approval on which information will be discussed in interview situations with employers and with other vocation/ education providers. Complete client notes in a timely and regular fashion as specified within MHS group HCC guidelines the RWR local documentation policy. Ensures corrective measures occur in response to audit feedback and RWR Quality Group feedback. Implements improvement opportunities identified in the consumer evaluation surveys and other more informal consumer and community feedback forums. Ensures corrective measures occur in response to audit feedback and RWR Quality Group feedback. Assumes responsibility to identify and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives. Provides clinical supervision to support staff to ensure individual client mental health issues are understood, with relevant rehabilitation goals and precautions being incorporated into rehabilitation interventions which are being implemented by the support staff. Services are delivered in accordance with the Mental Health Service and the Teams philosophies, priorities and objectives.
