Spring 2018 Les clubs will begin the week of January 8, 2018 and will run until the week of th, unless otherwise specified. There will be NO CLUBS on the following dates: Monday, January 15, 2018 Friday, February 2, 2018 February 7 9, 2018 During Mardi Gras Break (February 12-16, 2018) During Parent/Teacher Conferences (February 26-28, 2018) Friday, March 30, 2018 During Spring Break (April 2-6, 2018) Aftercare: There is no additional charge for aftercare if the child is picked up promptly after a club meeting. Children who are not picked up after their club meeting will be placed in aftercare and parents will be charged aftercare fees. MATERNELLE Ballet Mondays: 4:00 p.m. 4:55 p.m. Ages: 3yrs and up Teacher: Kimberly Matulich-Beck Required dress code: Boys (white t-shirt, solid color gym shorts, white ballet shoes) / Girls (black leotards, pink tights, pink ballet slippers). This beginner class is designed to instruct children on the fundamentals of ballet while providing encouragement and developing a love of dance. A final performance will take place at the end of the semester. There are only 12 spaces available for this class. Cello Mondays and Wednesdays : 7:15 a.m. 8:00 a.m. Ages : 1st grade and up Teacher : Jeanne Jaubert This will be a cello ensemble class or a cello choir, in which students will participate in a small orchestra focused on learning the instrument. The cello choir will accept both experienced musicians and those interested in learning the cello for the first time. Students will need to obtain their own cello (rentals available) in order to participate in the club. The class will require at least 5 students in order to be offered, but it will be limited to a maximum of 10 to ensure ample individual attention. All musicians from last year who wish to stay in the band may do so; any interested students/parents/teachers/staff who want to join should talk to Mr. Bourau-Glisia first. LEGO League Tuesdays: 4:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. Ages: 4 th grade 6 th grade Teacher: Jean-Louis Collard In this class students will learn about coding, and build their own Lego robots. There are only 12 spaces available for this class. Theater Tuesdays: 4:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. Ages: 2 nd grade and up Teacher : Alexandra Kennon Theatre Arts students will learn the necessary skills to perform in front of an audience, with emphasis on acting for live theatre. Participants will learn stage directions and theatre terminology, voice projection and other "tools of the actor", audition etiquette and monologue performance, character development, improvisation, and scene study. The course will culminate in a showcase displaying monologues and scenes hand-selected for each actor and rehearsed throughout the semester. Ultimate Frisbee Tuesdays: 4:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. Ages: 2 nd grade 7 th grade Teacher : Julien Chaillou Class provides students the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Ultimate Frisbee, a no-contact, team building game. There are only 10 spaces available for this class. ***This class will only be taught if there are 7 or more children registered*** Spanish Tuesdays: 4:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. Ages: Pre-K 4 (Moyenne) and K (Grande) Teacher: Monica Garcia Learning Spanish in an immersion based class. Basics are taught through games and music. Mystery Box Art: Each week students will be offered a different "mystery box" of art materials. After a quick directed warm-up to practice using those materials, students can choose between following project guidelines, or taking creative control themselves and making whatever their imaginations inspire! Chess Club Wednesdays: 4:30 p.m. 5:30 p.m. Ages: 1 s t grade to 5 th grade Teacher : Nick Matta Ecole Bilingue is pleased to offer the return of our Chess Club headed by Nick Matta, the current leader of the championship Lusher team. The Ecole Bilingue Chess Club will learn the rules of the game, successful strategy, and even have the opportunity to participate in the State Championships. (Class offered by Nick Matta) Cooking with Chef Sully Wednesdays: 3:00 4:00 p.m. / 4:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. Ages: 4 yrs old and up Teacher: Sullivan Fournigault Students gain hands on experience preparing and cooking French cuisine classics with our French chef, Sully! Cross Country Wednesdays: 3:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. Ages: 3 rd - 8 th grade Coach : John Dubberley Our Ecole Bilingue Cross Country practice at Lawrence Square and participate in several races throughout the semester. Inventor s Club - Learning the Means of Production! Thursdays: 4:00 p.m. 5:30 p.m. Ages: 4 th grade and up Teacher: Elena Walker The Inventor s club will learn about how things get produced in the real world, taking 4 to 5 off-campus field trips, such as to a large off-set printer, a silk screen or embroidery shop, some kind of wood working or metal shop, and more. Ideally, each child will be able to shepherd one invention from initial brainstorming to prototyping and finally to production. Finally, the club will also help produce an Invention Market during Fête and/or at the end of the school year. PLEASE NOTE: 1. As budding entrepreneurs and inventors, kids will be EXPECTED to invent & prototype on their own time at home, sharing and refining that work during Invention Club hours. 2. For the field trips, Elena will need parental permission to take up to six children in her van, but higher enrollment will require further parent volunteer drivers. 3. There will likely be additional expenses involved in producing your child's invention. Parents will be responsible for covering these costs. Tennis Thursdays: 4:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. Ages: 6 yrs to 10 yrs old Teacher : Julien Chaillou Class provides students the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of tennis on campus. There are only 6 spaces available for this class. LEGO League Thursdays: 4:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. Ages: 1 st 3 rd grade Teacher: Sebastien Pastor All children love Legos. In this class, LEGOs are used to facilitate team building and problem solving, while providing students with an introduction to the fields of technology and engineering. There are only 12 spaces available for this class. Sew Fabulous Fridays: 4:00 p.m. 5:15 p.m. Ages: 8yrs and up Teacher: Heather Rankin In collaboration with Heather Rankin from Sew Fabulous, we will continue to offer sewing as a Club d Ecole. Students will work on patterns and basic sewing machine skills to create a few small projects during the semester such as wallets, stuffed animals and more! The fee for this class will include some materials but we may ask that you purchase a few small extra items of your own. Sewing machines will be provided. There are only 8 spaces available for this class. Class offered through Sew Fabulous Guitar, Drums, or Piano Lessons BY APPOINTMENT Ages: K (Grande) and up Teacher: Jack Donovan

Classes provide students the opportunity to learn guitar, drums, or piano. Piano is available to all beginners or second year students; guitar and drum lessons are available to all levels. Lessons are private and last 30 minutes. Scheduling is done through Doodle, and the registration link will be sent to all parents on December 18 th. SEW FABULOUS Sewing Club - Spring Semester 2018 The Sewing Club fee for the semester will be $350. The fee covers 13 Friday after school sessions (January 12 th to May 11 th ), machine use, all supplies, fabric and patterns. Sessions will run from 4 pm to 5:15pm.
