First Flight 2016 TUESDAY, AUGUST 16: Final Orientation Students who have not yet attended orientation will do so on this day. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17, 2016 10:00am- 3:30 pm New Student Check-In: Campus Center Lounge First Flight Schedule Receive your schedule, which contains everything you need to know for the week as well as lots of campus related information. New students are expected to attend all events. Don t miss out on all the fun! Health Center Check-In Check-in with the Health Center to find out if they have received your medical information. Cardinal Card Pick-Up Pick up your Otterbein Student ID, the Cardinal Card. Learn where your ID can be used and have the opportunity to add value to your card at the Business Office. 10:00 am - even Rooms check in 12:00 pm 11:00 am - odd Rooms check in 1:00 pm Check-in for new students living on campus will be held in the Campus Center Lounge. Once you have received your move-in packet, you may move into your respective Residence Hall during the assigned times. 3:00 pm Commuter Check-In Check in for commuter students will be held in the Campus Center Lounge. Commuter Meeting 3:30pm All commuters will move to the Pit Theatre after checking in. 4:30 pm Community Team Meeting Residents Respective Residence Halls Commuters Join Dunlap-King Hall Receive your Community Colors and learn your Community Cheer! Review your schedule and create your game plan for defeating the competition throughout the week. Receive important information related to your FYS and Department Meetings. Get your meal tickets for the week (all new students) this will be the only time this information will be distributed, so make sure you are in attendance! 6:00 pm Picnic by the Rock Enjoy your first meal with your new classmates during this picnic hosted by some of Otterbein s VIPs. Take part in an Otterbein tradition signing the Rock and receive your First Flight T shirt! This is also a great time to sign up for the Fall Community Plunge. This picnic is only for new students; a First Flight meal band is required.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 18, 2016 7:30 am Breakfast Cardinal s Nest-Campus Center Meet at 7:25am at your respective Residence Hall if you would like breakfast. 9:00 am March to Convocation Meet in front of the Campus Center Don t be late! All students should meet in front of the Campus Center to take the Class of 2020 picture and participate in this traditional walk to Cowan for Convocation. 9:30 am New Student Convocation Cowan Hall You will be welcomed to Otterbein by both faculty and students during this convocation that highlights tradition and ceremony. Bring your Common Book assignments, paper for notes, and pen/pencil because you will go directly to your FYS meeting. 10:30 am Welcome Reception In front of Roush Hall following Convocation. 10:45 am- Meet with your First Year Seminar class, Peer Mentor, and professor! 12:00 pm Various Locations You will meet your FYS instructor and Peer Mentor! Turn in your Common Book assignment and begin discussing academic expectations for the year. This is an academic experience, so it is important to come prepared. 12:00 pm- Lunch on the Lawn with FYS class 1:00 pm Towers Lawn Rain Location: Clements Center Celebrate the academic year with a festive picnic! Enjoy lunch with your FYS instructor, Peer Mentor and classmates. The program consists of 10 workshops, completing 40 hours of community-based service and gaining leadership experience in a campus student organization.
