PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The purpose of this position is to coordinate and oversee the implementation of the Mental Health First Aid Program across the community of Counties Manukau. This program is a mental health promotion activity part of achieving the milestones in the Counties Manukau Suicide Prevention and Postvention Plan 2016 2020. The successful delivery of this program will enable: Improving the mental health literacy, knowledge, attitudes and skills of the community Equip families/whanau, friends and the wider community with knowledge of mental health Reduce the stigma, and attitudes towards people with mental health issues Improving access to safe and effective local services for people at risk of suicide and their families/significant others; Building of resiliency in key target groups. Key Objectives of the MHFA Coordinator Engage with a wide range of stakeholders developing strong working relationships to enable the sharing of information, collaborative working across services and systems and progression of MHFA Provide project management, oversight, co-ordination and implementation Mental Health First Aid workshops Deliver a minimum of 5 Mental Health First Aid workshops over 6 months Continue to build on relationships and structures to strengthen collaboration across health and other local sectors involved in mental health promotion activities This is a fixed term role with a 0.6FTE that would be reviewed at the end of the 6 months. Out of Scope This role will not coordinate specific suicide prevention or postvention activities. Strengthen relationships and structures to support collaboration across local agencies involved in suicide prevention and mental health promotion Deliver a minimum of 5 Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)workshops across Counties Manukau over the 6 months Coordinate the delivery of an additional 5 (minimum) workshops over the 6months period Complete a programme evaluation process. Participate in mental health promotion forums and opportunities to connect and deliver MHFA Dissemination of appropriate MHFA information and resources via various mediums Oversees the policies, procedures, and logistics of all EDAP trainings, to include confirming space availability and room set up, copying handouts, purchasing supplies, and monitoring registration process. Monitor new MHFA class module offerings and work with MHFA trainers to complete. Assist new trainers with expectations, support and mentorship where needed. Secure venues across locations throughout the Counties Manukau service area and coordinate arrangements and location hosts. Schedule class instructors and address instructors' needs and concerns. Manage promotion of classes using flyers, press releases, email blasts, social media and other communications. Work with Director of Training/Project Director to ensure solvency of programmatic budgets. Planning and Reporting Produce quarterly reports on the outcomes and evaluation of the programme Collate information and project updates into one quarterly report to feed back to Suicide Prevention Coordinator and for the General Manager, Clinical Director, Ministry of Health and Board Reports within expected timeframes. Professional Development Attend appropriate conference, education opportunities, training workshops and conferences relative to the position. General Undertake other tasks associated with the Planning and Funding functions, for example District Annual Planning Processes, District Strategic Planning etc. Participate in Planning and Funding forums.
