That the Board of Police Commissioners APPROVE the Department s Report and TRANSMIT to the Mayor and City Council for ACCEPTANCE the donation of fitness equipment valued at $25,000.00 for Wilshire Area. DONOR INFORMATION: ITEMS: AMOUNT/VALUE: Caruso Affiliated (#166-17) Mr. Ryan Hawley, General Manager 189 The Grove Drive, Suite C-100 Los Angeles, California 90036 (323) 900-8000 DISCUSSION Fitness equipment $25,000.00 The donation is for the benefit of Wilshire Area. The donated items will replace equipment in the Wilshire Area workout room that has reached the end of its serviceability. The new equipment will assist in supporting employee wellness and enable personnel to maintain good physical health. The equipment will be professionally installed, and there will be no maintenance costs. No expressed or implied commitments or promises were made to the donor or representatives of the donor. The donor will not receive any preferential treatment, endorsement, or recommendation; and the donor is not allowed the use of any Los Angeles Police Department (Department) patents. Administrative Services Bureau has reviewed the donation and determined that it has been submitted in accordance with Section 5.467 et seq. of the Los Angeles Administrative Code, which provides for the receipt and acceptance of donations to the Department. INTRADEPARTMENTAL CORRESPONDENCE June 20, 2017 6.4 TO: Commanding Officer, Administrative Services Bureau FROM: Commanding Officer, Wilshire Area SUBJECT: REQUEST TO ACCEPT DONATION - FITNESS EQUIPMENT It is requested that Administrative Services Bureau (ASB) approve and forward correspondence to the Board of Police Commissioners to accept the donation of fitness equipment items for Wilshire Area workout room at the estimated value of $25,000.00 from Caruso Affiliated. This request is in the best interest of the Department as it supports employee wellness, which is a LAPD Action Plan to 2020, Strategic Goal 6. The donation will replace the existing fitness equipment, which is old and reaching the end of its serviceability, and encourage personnel to adopt a healthier lifestyle. All equipment will be professionally installed.
