Some of the tools include public websites, private portals, mobile applications and a series of dynamic apps and collaboration utilities. 3:15 pm 3:30 pm Q&A Presented by: Ted Steinmann, IT Manager and Penny Norquist Program Manager, Food Protection Defense Institute, MN Thanh Andrews Project Officer FDA, Office of Partnerships in the Division of Partnerships Investments and Agreements Thanh Andrews is a Project Officer working in the FDA, Office of Partnerships in the Division of Partnerships Investments and Agreements. She is responsible for the Food Protection Task Forces (FPTF) Grant and Integrated Food Safety System Online Collaboration Development Cooperative Agreement (IFSS-OCD CA). Alan Tart Acting Director Alan Tart is the Acting Director of FDA ORA s Office of Partnerships (OP). As Acting Director, Alan provides executive-level management, programmatic, and operational leadership, direction, and guidance to the Office of Partnerships, including the Division of Integration, Division of Standards Implementation, and the Division of Partnership Investments and Agreements. Alan serves as a principal advisor to the Acting Assistant Commissioner for Partnerships and Policy (Barbara Cassens) and the Associate Commissioner for Regulatory Affairs (Mel Plaisier) on matters pertaining to ORA's partnerships programs. Alan s permanent position is Deputy Director of OP. During his 21-year career at FDA, Alan has also served as a Microbiologist in FDA s Southeast Regional Laboratory, a Regional Retail Food Specialist in FDA s Southeast Region State Cooperative Programs Branch, a Training Officer in ORA s Office of Training, Education, and Development (OTED) and a Retail Food Program Specialist in OP s Division of Standards Implementation. Alan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Berry College in Mt. Berry, GA. He is a 2008 graduate of the Atlanta Federal Executive Board s Leadership Government Program and a current participant in the Federal Executive Institute s Leadership in a Democratic Society program. Steven Mandernach Bureau Chief Food & Consumer Safety Bureau, Iowa Department of Inspection & Appeals Steven Mandernach is the Bureau Chief for the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals Food and Consumer Safety Bureau. Mandernach is currently Past President of the Association of Food and Drug Officials and co-chair of the Association s Laws and Regulations committee. He served as the President of the Association of Food and Drug Officials from 2016-2017. He has also served as the chair and co-chair for the Manufactured Food Regulatory Program Alliance. He is a past president of the Mid-Continental Association of Food and Drug Officials. Mandernach has a Juris Doctorate from Drake University Law School. He is currently pursuing a Master s of Science in Food Safety from Michigan State University. Travis Goodman Rapid Response Team Coordinator Travis is an FDA Consumer Safety Officer based out of the Indianapolis, IN office. He serves as the Rapid Response Team coordinator in this role. He provides regulatory program leadership support to state programs, federal partners and other stakeholders to enhance Federal-State communications Prior to joining the FDA, Travis worked for the Hamilton Co. Health Dept. for 8 years as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist conducting retail food inspections and finally serving as a Program Director. He also worked for the Indiana State Dept. of Health for 11 years as a retail and manufactured food inspector, food defense program coordinator, food emergency response coordinator, and public health administrator. Presentation: Food Protection Task Force Grant: Future Funding Model Description: This presentation will discuss why the FPTF Program was added to the Flexible Funding Model (FFM) and promotion of integration. Other funding opportunities that may support FPTF activities will also be discussed. Priscilla Neves, M.Ed., RS Consumer Safety Officer Division of Standards Implementation Priscilla is a Consumer Safety Officer/Regulatory Program Standards Specialist working in the FDA, Office of Partnerships in the Division of Standards Implementation. She is responsible for providing support to states enrolled in the Manufactured Food Regulatory Program Standards and is a technical advisor for the food protection task force program. Prior to joining FDA in 2010, Priscilla worked for the MA Dept. of Public Health Food Protection Program for 26 years as an inspector, foodborne illness response coordinator, supervisor and program director in the areas of retail, manufactured food, food emergency response and state food safety task forces. Presentation: Coalition of Food Protection Task Forces Description: This presentation is an overview of the Coalition of the Food Protection Task Forces (CFPTF) steering committee, task force best practices, coalition workgroup portal, and the new FPTF website. Program Consultant Georgia Department of Public Health - Environmental Health Section Shaun has been working in Environmental Health for 15 years. She has worked with the State Health Departments for Georgia and Tennessee during that time period. Shaun graduated from Georgia State University in 2001 with a degree in Biology and received her Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Capella University in 2012. Presentation: Employee Health Redbook Overview Description: The purpose of this presentation is to give a brief overview of Georgia Department of Public Health's Employee Health Redbook. Jessica Douglas, R.S. Food Program Manager West Virginia Bureau for Public Health Jessica is a Registered Sanitarian, and currently the Food Program Manager for the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health, Office of Environmental Health Services. She received a B.S. in Biological Science and M.S. in Environmental Science from Marshall University in Huntington, WV. Jessica has worked as a sanitarian for 15 years in a variety of environmental health programs. Presentation: Farmers Market Vendor Guide: A Project of the West Virginia Food Safety and Defense Task Force Description: This presentation is an overview of the history, goals, content, and challenges associated with the West Virginia Farmers Market Vendor Guide. Randy J. Treadwell, MPH Program Manager, Rapid Response & Emergency Management Washington State Dept. of Agriculture Randy Treadwell leads the Washington Rapid Response Team and Emergency Management Program for the Washington State Department of Agriculture. Prior to his role with the RRT, Randy served as the agency s Animal Feed Program Manager. Even prior to that, Randy was a field-based inspector with WSDA s Human Food Safety Program. Increasing virtual presence capabilities Description: Discuss some additional options available for increasing virtual presence at meetings, satellite offices, etc., including the use of mobile robots. IT Manager Food Protection and Defense Institute Ted is the IT Manager at the Food Protection and Defense Institute (FPDI) at the University of Minnesota. He manages IT staff, sponsors and vendor relationships and oversees development, operations and maintenance on a portfolio of products which includes FoodSHILED and all of the CoreSHIELD portal. Prior to joining FPDI, Mr. Steinmann filled Product Management, Lead Development, and Dev Ops roles for a private-sector software development company. He received a Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) in Information Systems and a BBA in Management from the University of North Dakota and is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in the Management of Technology at the University of Minnesota with a focus on advancing big data technologies. Penny Norquist Program Manager Food Protection and Defense Institute Penny is a program manager at FPDI, supporting the CoreSHIELD platform and the development of new technology tools for preparedness. She joined FPDI with over 17 years of Research and Development experience in the Food & Beverage Industry working across dairy, snacks, and bakery platforms.
