Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center Forward Central FWD CENT is responsible for Navy Individual Augmentees (IAs) on behalf of to exercise administrative control. We support Sailors through Reception, Staging, Onward Movement & Integration (RSO&I), along with sustainment functions to include: Awards, Fitreps/Evals, travel claims, career support, Emergency Leave, R&R Leave, billet issues to include early release and extensions, and overall health & welfare of IAs in the CENTCOM AOR. We are your link in the Navy chain while in CENTCOM.

Reception ARRIVAL Upon arriving in Qatar, debarking the plane and movement to the Qatar Customs staging area, you will be met by FWD CENT staff members. Look for the individuals in NWU Type III s or Navy PTUs. The FWD CENT staff will walk with you through each step of your journey while in Al Udeid, arranging and preparing you for all follow-on travel.
Reception IMMIGRATION After debarking the aircraft, you will be directed to line up under a shade awning with your carry-on luggage to await processing through immigration. You will be directed by Air Force personnel to enter into the immigration facility with your CAC ID and your Orders. Your orders will be stamped and your ID will be given to Qatari immigration officials for processing. At that time, an immigration brief will be presented to you.
Reception CUSTOMS While you are in Immigration, your bags and weapons will be off-loaded into a common area. When complete with the immigration process, you will proceed outside to move your weapon and bags to temporary storage. FWD CENT staff will direct you. Your weapons will be stored and locked in a Conex box specific to transient Navy personnel.
Reception CUSTOMS With the exception of your weapons case, all other bags are subject to search by Qatari Custom s officials. Prohibited items include weapons, alcohol, drugs, knives with blades longer than 6 inches, e-cigarettes and other vaping devices and pornography. All prohibited items will be confiscated and not returned. Plan accordingly. Once through Customs, the staff will direct you to an appropriate location to discuss berthing, transportation, communication, and time and location of next evolution.
AL UDEID AIR BASE Al Udeid Air Base (AUAB) is a large coalition military base southwest of Doha, Qatar. The home of the Qatari Air Force and roughly 10,000 coalition personnel, it is host to a forward headquarters of United States Central Command, headquarters of United States Air Forces Central Command, No. 83 Expeditionary Air Group RAF, and the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing of the USAF. You will arrive on the operational side of the base and be transported to the residential side until your follow-on movement. Al Udeid is the main hub for Air Force and Navy transient IA personnel.
ON BASE TRANSPORTATION For small groups, FWD CENT staff will transport transient Navy personnel to and from the operational side of the base to the residential side of the base. For larger groups, FWD CENT Staff will arrange for bus transportation. The Air Force operates a 24 hour shuttle service throughout the base for all other transportation needs. Buses run every 25 minutes.
BERTHING You will be transferred by staff members to billeting for your berthing assignment. Linens are provided, but you will need to provide your own towel. The residential side of the base is broken into two sections: the Coalition Compound (CC side) and the Blatchford Preston Complex (BPC side). You will stay on the CC side but are authorized access to BPC amenities.
BERTHING Transient personnel will be housed in open-bay style berthing. (right of picture) Restroom facilities are located outside in a separate unit known as a Cadillac. (far end of picture) There are footlockers in the berthing, but you need to supply your own lock.
LAUNDRY The CC self-service laundry is located directly behind the CC pool and is open 24 hours a day for your laundry needs.
DINING Dining facilities (DFAC) are located on both the CC and BPC side. Uniform (including PTU) or appropriate civilian attire are required. Simply present your CAC and enjoy. You will definitely be well fed here.
LIBRARY Located on the CC side, here you will find a great selection of books, Audio Books, CD s and DVD s for check out. There are 8 separate rooms designated for people to watch movies in a separate area.
CHAPEL There Is a full service chapel in the CC. Daily Catholic Mass at 1700 Gospel Service Sunday at 1900 Contemporary Service Saturday at 1900 & Sunday at 1000 Other services & prayer groups throughout the week UNCLASSIFIED
RECREATION The Base Recreation Area is in the center of the CC where you can grab a beer and relax in the shade. Occasionally, there s live music, movies and other activities. The Fox Sports bar is located adjacent. You are authorized 3 alcoholic drinks per 18 hour period. A movie theater is also adjacent, with 1 st run movies for $3.00 UNCLASSIFIED
FACILITIES In the Coalition Compound, you will find the BX/Shopping Center, Alterations Shop, Jewelry Shop, Gift Shop, Suits, Baskin Robbins/Dunkin Donuts, Burger King, Subways, and Pizza Hut. UNCLASSIFIED
FACILITIES Within the BPC there is a Mini-Mall which houses a Base Exchange, Barber Shop, Rec Center, Food Court, Theatre, Education Center, and Post Office. UNCLASSIFIED
POST OFFICE There is a full service post office within the mini-mall as well. You will be able to acquire all needed mailing supplies here. Please be mindful that all items need inspection before being sealed. Personal correspondence letters and post cards are mailed for free. UNCLASSIFIED
CC POOL The CC pool is open daily with the exceptions of Mondays from 0500-2200. The MWR host a movie night once each week and there s a Dairy Queen located within the pool grounds as well. UNCLASSIFIED
FITNESS Open 24 hours a day, there are two gyms at your disposal. The CC gym is adjacent to the Memorial Plaza on the Coalition Compound. There are 3 separate fitness buildings dividing weight lifting, cardio and the gymnasium. Behind the gymnasium you will find the running track. UNCLASSIFIED
FITNESS - BPC GYM You can play by yourself or often get in on a pick-up game. Half the court is often set up for volleyball as is the case in the above picture. UNCLASSIFIED
FITNESS - BPC POOL The pool hours are daily from 0500-2200 with the exception of Tuesday. There are day use locker rooms and showers available. UNCLASSIFIED
Onward Movement FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS FWD CENT will make all attempts to get transportation to your final destination country NLT Saturday after your arrival in Qatar. However, all flights are controlled by AMC and flight times are not guaranteed. Be flexible! At 0900 on Friday morning, Staff will brief DEPLOYERS on theater requirements and expectations, and complete travel claims covering from NMPS to arrival in Qatar. At these briefs you will be told muster times for your flight to leave Qatar and head to your final deployment destination.
Onward Movement DEPARTURE FWD CENT staff will walk you through check-in procedures and assist you in all aspects for your follow-on movement. Follow-on movement will be by military aircraft.
Onward Movement FINAL DESTINATION - AFGHANISTAN FWD CENT maintains a RSO&I Detachment at Bagram Air Field. With the exception of ROLE III, all other AFG bound personnel will fly from Qatar to BAF where they will be met by the BAF DET who will provide berthing and/or follow-on transportation. There are flyers posted on the walls in the airhead with BAF DET contact information. At BAF, arrivals will attend a video briefing then take their baggage through Customs for scanning before being released.
