Global Virtual Venture Valley (VVV) 1st International Pre-launch Conference, 26-27 November 2010, Ulyanovsk, Russia VVV is to help innovation giants grow globally. It will make international cooperation among innovation leaders and joint development of revolutionary technologies and products by international teams much easier, faster and more effective. An entrepreneurial team of radical innovation practitioners has been developing VVV since 2001. The key VVV components have been commercialized successfully with customers in over 100 countries. Today, VVV is in its final development stage. It will be launched in 2011. The Conference will gather a focused international team of the VVV founding members. Participation is by invitation only. The participants will exchange ideas on what unsatisfied needs of innovators VVV should meet to make global cooperation in the field of development of new ventures much easier A group of key players and a set of radical innovation projects will be also selected for participation in the beta-testing phase of VVV during 2011.

International Training & Networking Program in India The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) is organizing a 6-week "International Program on Promoting Innovation & Entrepreneurship through Incubation" during February 21 - March 31, 2011 in Ahmedabad, India. The program is sponsored by the of External Affairs, Government of India under the ITEC/SCAAP Program, and supported by the National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and Asia Pacific Incubation Network (APIN). Joint Conference On Science&Technology Parks Technology Park Bentley is proud to be hosting the 14th International Association of Science Parks Asian Science Park Association Joint Conference on Science and Technology Parks in Perth, Western Australia, from 24-26 November, 2010. The 15 th AABI General Assembly The 15 th AABI General Assembly was held in conjunction of 2010 Small Development Business Conference during week of Sep12 th -15 th in Cairn, Australia. There were 250 participants attended this international conference and discussed on the further professional development and to promote best practice across the industry. At the 15 th General Assembly, The 27 representatives from AABI Association member s countries and region made the discussed on the further development of AABI, the further development of APJIE, to accept the new AABI Association member, the 2011 hosting organization of AABI General Assembly and the AABI Secretariat organization for next term. Also there was an Award ceremony at the end of this International conference. Mr. Benjamin Yuan the president of AABI, Mr. Wang Rong the Chairman of the AABI Torch Award Judge committee and Mr.lin Xuwei the director of Shanghai Technology Innovation Center as the presenters to issue the Award to the winners of 2009 AABI Incubator Year Award and 2009 AABI Torch Entrepreneur Award.

HKSTPC and Oresund Science Region Signs MOU to Establish Annual Oresund Hong Kong - InnoTech & ChinaBiz Summit Hong Kong (25 August 2010) Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTPC) and Øresund Science Region (OSR a cross-border region between Denmark and Sweden) have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Copenhagen, agreeing to make the Øresund Hong Kong - InnoTech & ChinaBiz Summit an important annual gathering that enables companies and organizations from both regions to support innovations, technology development and business growth. The MOU will also allow HKSTPC and OSR to bolster relations through closer cooperation via the annual event which will take place in Hong Kong and the Øresund region alternatively. Present at today s MOU signing, included Prof. Lars Montelius, Chief Executive, Øresund Organization; Mr. Hans Muller Pederson, Deputy Director General, Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation; Miss Janet Wong, Commissioner for Innovation and Technology of the Hong Kong SAR Government; and Mr. Nicholas Brooke, Chairman, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation.

MAD TechVentures Conference 2010 This year s TechVenture Conference will be held in Kuala Lumpur in Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa during week of November 8 th -9 th. We are expecting more than 500 participants to the Conference and we promise that this will be the biggest StartUp Launch in 2010. incubation program. MAD TechVentures 2010 Conference, a conference and platform to launch Malaysia s Top StartUp Tech Ventures. MAD TechVentures Conference 2010 was conceived as part of MAD Inc s vision of creating new startup ventures, publicizing them and eventually nurturing them through MAD Inc s The proposed MAD TechVentures Conference 2010 is all about tech startups. It will be an annual event with a simple goal: to find the best start-ups and launch them in front of our industry s most influential VCs, corporations, fellow entrepreneurs and press. The event will feature startups under different categories, demo-ing their products in hopes to receive venture capital or angel investor attention, publicity and awards. MAD TechVentures Conference will be an excellent platform where early-stage and frequently unfunded, companies could take center stage based purely on merit, without regards to their own financial resource. This is a perfect opportunity for start-ups to showcase their potential in front of their peers and potential investors.

Governing Board approves ICRISAT s new Strategic Plan ICRISAT s new Strategic Plan for the next 10 years was approved by the Governing Board (GB) during its 63rd meeting in September at Arusha, Tanzania. With GB Chair Nigel Poole at the helm, the meeting was attended by most of the members, with Dr Debora Delmer (USA) an incoming GB member, as an observer. The Management Group (MG) members led by Director General William Dar, and senior ICRISAT- ESA staff members led by Director Said Silim, also participated in the meeting. The Program Committee later held further discussions to endorse the new Strategic Plan and deliberated on the accompanying Business Plan. The committee proposed refinements to the Business Plan and tasked the ICRISAT management to come up with an enhanced draft by the end of October. The GB approved the following at the plenary meeting: 1. The new Strategic Plan to 2020 2. Process to further enhance the Business Plan 3. Gender and diversity policy 4. Budget of US$ 52.0 million for 2010 5. Budget of US$ 53.5 million for 2011

Malaysian-German Joint Venture to Invest RM214 Million at Kulim Hi-Tech Park KULIM, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- A joint venture involving a local company and its German partner will make an initial investment of RM214 million in the wafer fabrication industry at the Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP). Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop said the joint venture company, Lfoundry Malaysia Sdn Bhd, was established by Lfoundry GmbH and QT HighTech Malaysia Sdn Bhd. It had set a target to set up five fabrication clusters in KHTP in the next 10 years which was expected to generate gross income of US$1.3 bilion for the country, he said. The investment would create 6,500 job opportunities for the people in the Northern Corridor Economic Region, he told reporters after witnessing the signing of two memoranda of understanding (MoU) between Lfoundry Malaysia and QT Hightech and the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) here yesterday. SPRING Launches Close to $30 million Initiative to Build Talent Pipeline in SMEs 2,000 fresh talents expected to join SMEs in next 5 years Two new programs by SPRING Singapore targeted at tertiary students and university graduates will help build a talent pipeline for SMEs. With stiff competition in the job market, SMEs frequently face difficulties in attracting fresh talents. The new program aim to change this and offer students and graduates the opportunity to experience the rewarding career prospects of working in an SME. At the same time, this will help build capabilities within the SMEs to gear them up for growth

CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND BUSINESS FUNDING This is the third capacity building program jointly organized by NUST and US Department of Commerce. The information on this program is provided below. Capacity Building Program in Entrepreneurship and Business Funding (venture capital and others) This program is scheduled for September 21 st 2010. Fifteen participants will receive one week training in USA. The entrepreneurs will learn about entrepreneurship and source of funding for business start ups from subject matter experts. The entrepreneurs will also have the opportunity to present their business plans to venture capitalist of Pakistan origin and others
