Faculty Winner Dr. Berlin established the Phenylketonuria (PKU) Clinic and Program more than 25 years ago. He has successfully engaged the PKU community, particularly the Amish and Mennonite communities, through his ongoing outreach and educational efforts.

Medical Student Winner Kimberly Faldetta Global Health Scholars Program

Medical Student Winner Kimberly successfully lobbied for Iquitos, Peru to be a site for the Global Health Scholars Program. The program s efforts on water and sanitation in the floating slums of Belen attracted the engagement of the U.S. Naval base in Iquitos which helped provide significant assistance this past summer with infrastructure and lab equipment for the Global Health team.

Medical Student Winner Sarah Smith Global Health Scholars Program Sarah successfully opened up a new international opportunity for our medical students and faculty by partnering with Penn State College of Engineering on a telemedicine project in Kenya.

Community Partner Individual Winner Jeanne is a true friend and advocate of Penn State Hershey. It s difficult to summarize all she s done on the Medical Center and College of Medicine s behalf. She s being recognized today for giving of her time and talents to support the Department of Nursing, Department of Dermatology and Children s Miracle Network.

Community Partner Individual Winner Susan Micke Newcomb

Community Partner Individual Winner Micke has been a volunteer at Children s Hospital since becoming a part of the Family Advisory Council in 2009. She was instrumental in helping to develop the Family Greeter Program - a volunteer opportunity for families to offer support to newly admitted families at the Children s Hospital. To date the program has reached 655 patients/families.

Community Partner Group Nominees Association of Faculty and Friends Love, Inc. PA Youth Apprenticeship Program

Community Partner Group Winner Association of Faculty and Friends AFF has a long and rich history of supporting Penn State Hershey. In 2011-12, AFF contributed more than $60,000 to over 30 Medical Center and College of Medicine initiatives including $500 to the Kienle Center for Humanistic Medicine, a $500 nursing award and continued to make an annual contribution to support a medical student scholarship.

Community Partner Group Winner Love, Inc.

Community Partner Group Winner The Love INC Parsonage is a Home away from Home" service for families of adult patients who need short-term accommodations while their loved ones receive treatment at the Medical Center. For nearly five years, Love INC has worked with families of patients from heart and vascular, hematology/oncology and transplant service areas. Between 2008 and 2012 the Parsonage has served nearly 1,000 families for over 3,000 nights.

Employee Group Winner Stroke Prevention Program In addition to celebrating May as Stroke Awareness Month, the stroke prevention program team participates in more than 20 community events each year including health fairs, screenings and children s events.

Penn State Hershey Volunteer Winner Ann Louise Gilfoyle Pet Therapy Program

Penn State Hershey Volunteer Winner Ann Louise is a great ambassador for the Pet Therapy program. She has brought structure and organization to the group by coordinating visits by all the teams on a weekly schedule in the hospital and clinic settings.
