RESEARCH IN FRANCE: France spend 1.5% of GDP for Higher Education & 2.25% of GDP for Research in 2013 (45 billion ) 63 500 students in Doctorate programme (2012-2013), 12 000 Doctorate delivered in 2012 5% increase of number of PhD students, 53% increase of Doctorates delivered since 2000 +400 000 people equivalent full time working in the R&D field, whose 30% women, and 60% of researchers hired by private companies 43 % PhD students are foreigners

INTERNATIONAL CONTRIBUTION France ranks: 6th for the number of scientific publications 3,6% global production, 4,0% citations 4th for the number of patents in the European system (Mechanics, Transportation and Machines) 7th for the number of patents in the American system (Pharmaceutical and Biotechnologies, Space and Nuclear) 3

REGIONAL PROGRAMS - ICT-ASIA (STIC-ASIE) ICT ASIA IS: A Scientific network : Bringing together France and Asia research institutions and scientists in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) A Grant Program : Yearly Call for Projects - 100 000 EUR per year, awards to 5 to 6 projects. Funds projects of research teams involving at least 1 researcher from France, 1 researcher from an ASEAN country and 1 researcher from another Asian country ( ASEAN or other). Since 2004, funded 56 projects and 340 scientists 8

REGIONAL PROGRAMS - SCIENTIFIC COLLABORATIONS BIO-ASIA (BIO-ASIE) BIO-ASIA IS: A Scientific network : Bringing together France and Asia research institutions and scientists in the field of biodiversity and biotechnologies studies, ranging from the study of natural substances to their applications in agronomy, cosmetics, forestry, health, etc. A Grant Program : Yearly Call for Projects - 100 000 EUR per year, awards to 5 to 6 projects. Funds projects of research teams involving at least 1 researcher from France, 1 researcher from an ASEAN country and 1 researcher from another Asian country (ASEAN or other).
