Incidents James Banatoski was sworn in as a Special Police Officer. Congratulations James, and welcome aboard! Lieutenant Noble assisted the Wayland Police Department with their promotional process for a Sergeant position. On November 4 th, Officers responded to Old Marlboro Road for a report of potentially intoxicated individuals outside of a residence. Upon arrival, it was determined to be an underage drinking party. The legal guardians of the juveniles that were at the party were contacted, and the matter was dealt with accordingly. On November 10 th, Officer Davoll attempted to conduct traffic stop on a motorcycle with no license plate. The operator did not stop, and fled the area. The description and last known location was provided to surrounding cities and towns. Through a joint effort of surrounding Police Departments, the motorcycle and operator were located. A citation and summons were issued.
Community Outreach Officers participated in No Shave November, raising funds for the Home Base Program. Over 60 Police Departments, including Maynard, participated raising over $117,000 to support the mission to heal the invisible wounds for Veterans and their families. Lieutenant Noble and Sergeant Jones were able to attend the ceremony at Fenway Park. Lieutenant Noble, Detective Sweeney, Officer Manchuso and Officer Ruggiero spoke in front of the School Committee about the collaborations between MPD and the schools. The Beacon Villager featured an article highlighting all of the community outreach done by the Maynard Police Department. The planning took place throughout November. The Maynard Police Department Honor Guard marched in the 2017 Veterans Day parade. A wonderful day to recognize the Veterans in our community, including those working within our department. A Citizens Police Academy will be held every Wednesday evening for 10 weeks beginning on January 31 st, 2018. Please visit www.maynardpolice.com for details, and an application! Reminder, the Winter Parking Ban goes into effect on December 1 st through March 15 th. The ban takes place from 2:00AM-6:00AM on roadways, sidewalks and municipal parking lots. An opening for a Full Time Police Officer was posted, and remains open until December 8 th 2017.
Training Chief Dubois continued his training in Virginia. On November 1 st, Officer Manchuso attended the monthly NEMLEC RRT training that consisted of missing persons searches, and wooded area searches. Detective Sweeney attended the Youth Fire Setter Intervention Specialist course at the Fire Academy. Communications Supervisor Finnerty attended an NextGen E911 Administrative course at the State 911 training facility in Maynard on November 3 rd. Detective Sweeney and Detective Bodwell began week one of a two week DEA training at the MSP Crime Lab here in Maynard. Officer Manchuso attended a Use of Force training with Calibre Press and the Boston Police Department on November 16 th. Sergeant Duggan, Sergeant Cushing and Sergeant Corrigan attended In Service training in November. This training is yearly for every Officer. Sergeant Corrigan attended a Supervisor Liability course at the Acton Police Department. Officer Manchuso attended a Crisis Negotiator Regional training.
