WEEKLY BULLETIN 11/05-11/11 STUDENT ABSENCES This is just a friendly reminder that if your son will be absent due to an appointment, illness, college visit, or for any other reason we ask that you email us at attendance@mountmichael.org. Note that absences for anything other than illness or doctor visits still must be approved by either Dr. Peters or Mr. Cormier; those requests should be sent to them directly and not to the attendance email address. 1. NO SHAVE NOVEMBER: The Student Council will be sponsoring No Shave November again this year. Students wishing to participate have until today, November 3 rd, to pay $5 to Mrs. Toft or their dean and will be exempt from shaving during the month of November. The student that has the best facial hair will also be exempt from shaving during the month of December. All money raised will be donated to Wigs for Kids, a non-profit organization that provides wigs free of charge for children with cancer and alopecia. 2. FARMER S/FLEA MARKET: The Farmer s and Flea Market will be open this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. This week's feature will be stuffed bell peppers: $20 per dozen. We still have pumpkins -- some painted with Thanksgiving and Fall themes, squash, Kosher dills, tomatoes (both frozen and canned), rhubarb/strawberry jam, hot pepper jam and stuffed jalapeno poppers (limited supply). 3. OPERATION OTHERS: The Mount Michael Core Team members from Operation Others are holding a canned fruit drive from November 5-16 th. Boxes will be placed on all floors. The class who brings in the most canned fruit will be awarded a free dress down day. An added bonus includes taking ONE selfie with your favorite fruit and send it to anigro@mountmichael.com. The best selfie will get $5.00 from the Core Team members. All donations received will be packaged and sent to those in the Omaha area this Christmas season. The Core Team is also sponsoring Operation Others trivia throughout the week, selling raffle tickets for a $25.00 credit to the bookstore, and sponsoring a free dress day on Friday, November 10th for $1.00. All proceeds from these activities goes to help Operation

Others feed the hungry during the holidays. Any questions, please contact Mrs. Masek at amasek@mountmichael.com 4. SOPHOMORE RETREAT: The sophomore retreat is scheduled for Tuesday, November 7 th in Mount Michael s gym. 5. MOUNT MICHAEL STUDENTS: Are you interested in entrepreneurship or business? Attend our next meeting, and see what this is all about! Date: November 7 th Time: 3:40 p.m. Where: Room 103 We look forward to seeing you there! If you have any questions, you may contact Tharein Potuhera at tpotuhera20@mountmichael.org 6. MOUNT MICHAEL S UPCOMING BLOOD DRIVE: We are still looking for a handful of donors to make our Fall Blood Drive a success. Our drive is set for Thursday, November 9 th from 8 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the gym. We still have slots available from 11:00 a.m.- 12:15 p.m. Please sign up today. Remember to bring a photo ID with your birthdate on, eat breakfast and drink plenty of water. You may also want to complete RapidPass if you wish to help speed things up. It will save you minutes of waiting time. Please click on the following link. http://www.redcrossblood.org/rapidpass Thank you! STATE OF THE NEW SCHOOL: Please join Abbot Michael and Dr. Peters Thursday, Nov. 9th for a State of the New School gathering in the armory at 6:00 p.m. Learn about the plans for the new building and how you can help us raise the final funds necessary to finish the

second floor. Light snacks will be served. Please RSVP to Riley Lebbert at rlebbert@mountmichael.org. 11. ENJOY A NIGHT OUT!! The Mount Michael Drama Department is proudly presenting The Good Doctor, which is a comedy by Neil Simon based on the short stories of Anton Chekhov, a great Russian author and playwright of the late 19th Century. The brief scenes make up Chekhov's world of irony in everyday life. The show features several Mount Michael students both on and off stage, as well as some young ladies from neighboring schools. Performance dates are November 10 th, 11 th, and 12 th with all shows starting at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $8/adults and $5/students (MM students free with ID). Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; thank you for your support of drama and the arts at Mount Michael! 12. GRADUATION ANNOUNCEMENT ORDERS: Graduation announcement orders are due Tuesday, November 21 st. Orders must be sent directly to School Traditions, 12100 West Center Rd, Omaha, NE 68144. If you have any questions, their direct line is 402-733-0300. 13. UPCOMING BREAKS: With Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks approaching, it is a good time to remind everyone of our absence policy. Students are not allowed to extend their breaks by either adding days at the beginning or end. Doing so will make those days unexcused, meaning that any work missed may not be made up and the student will receive zeros for homework assignments, quizzes, or tests. This is particularly critical at Christmas, as the last days of the first semester are final exams. The school calendar with days off was published in the spring to help everyone plan, make travel arrangements, and so on. Our official days off for Thanksgiving are Wednesday, November 22 nd to Sunday, November 26 th, and we are off for Christmas from Friday, December 22 nd to Sunday, January 7 th. Thank you for understanding our policy and making your arrangements accordingly. 14. JOB POSTING: PARENTS, STUDENTS, ALUMNI and FACULTY ELIGIBLE: The Mount Michael Booster Club is currently looking for a CONCESSION MANAGER for the Winter sports season. The position responsibilities include ordering, shopping, stocking and inventorying product; coordinating pre-game and post-game concessions preparations; collecting and depositing cash; reviewing and paying invoices; and the general management of the program. The Concessions Manager will report to the Mount Michael Booster Club and provide feedback/suggestions to help improve the program. The Concessions Committee and Booster Club members are prepared to support this position and will be responsible for recruiting volunteer workers. Salary will be $1000 for the Winter Sports season and can be a job-share position. INTERESTED? Contact Amy Bova (402) 917-6086. 15.
