GEM/BOISE COUNTY 4-H LEADERS ASSOCIATION 4-H SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS GENERAL INFORMATION No scholarship or award may be assigned to another person by the recipient. Scholarships and awards must be used during the year they are awarded. The year in this instance is considered to be one year from date awarded. The amount awarded will not exceed the amount requested. See application for due date. Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Leaders Association members present at a regular scheduled meeting. For scholarships not based on contests a scholarship application is available at the Extension Office. The number of scholarships and money designated may change from year to year. In general, money is paid to the event, not to the member. COMMUNICATIONS RODEO AWARDS Cash awards for Oral presentations shall be given to the individual with the top presentation in each age group under each subject matter area. Age groups are: Junior, Intermediate, Senior. A team demonstration is given by two (and only two) members. Home Economics & Miscellaneous all age groups: 1 st place individual in each age group, $10; Livestock & Small Animals all age groups: 1 st place individual in each age group, $10; Horse Demonstration all age groups: 1 st place individual in each age group $10; Horse Public Speaking all age groups: 1 st place individual in each age group $10; Prepared Speech all age groups: 1 st place individual in each age group $10; Extemporaneous Speech all age groups: 1 st place individual in each age group $10; Job Interview all age groups: 1 st place individual in each age group $10; TV Commercial No age divisions: 1 st place individual $10; 1 st place team $10 per (2) youth. RECOGNITION NIGHT SCHOLARSHIPS Three $100 scholarships may be awarded at Recognition Night for teens who have demonstrated excellence in project work, leadership and 4-H citizenship. These scholarships are to be used within one year to attend Teen Conference, Camp Counselor Training, Ambassador Retreat or a National 4-H Conference or Congress. The money is paid to the University of Idaho 4-H Program once the 4-H member has registered for and arrived at the event. 4-H Leadership Scholarship - A $100 Scholarship sponsored by Gem/Boise 4-H Leaders Association is presented at Recognition Night to a 4-H teen who has demonstrated leadership growth in a Teen Leadership project on the local, club, and county level.
4-H Teen Scholarship Livestock. A $100 Scholarship (awarded if funding is available) is presented at Recognition Night to a 4-H Teen who has demonstrated excellence in a livestock project. 4-H Citizenship Scholarship - A $100 Scholarship (awarded if funding is available) is presented at Recognition Night to a 4-H teen who has demonstrated leadership and growth in the areas of community pride and/or international exchange projects. KNOW YOUR GOVERNMENT (2015 Cost= $110 + transportation) Up to four $55 scholarships, or more as funds allow, are available for accepted delegates. Applications available at the Extension Office. Applications must be turned in with application for Know Your Government. Additional funds may be available for adult advisor, youth reporter, or youth planning committee members. AMBASSADOR TRAINING (2014 Cost= $95.00) Up to three $45 scholarships are available for those accepted to the Ambassador Program. Applications available at the Extension Office. Applications must be completed through 4-H Online. CAMP COUNSELOR TRAINING OR RETREAT (2014 Cost= $100) All youth accepted into the camp counselor program may apply for one $40 scholarship per year to be applied to one of the counselor trainings. Applications available at the Extension Office. Applications must be turned in the Extension Office at the time the Camp Counselor applications are due. NATIONAL 4-H TEEN CONFERENCE OR CONGRESS Up to three $150 scholarships are available for those individuals selected by the state as delegates to National 4-H Teen Conference or Congress. (If more than three delegates from Gem/Boise County are selected to attend, the $450 may be split between them.) Applications available at the Extension Office. Applications must be turned in to the Extension Office by March 1 for Conference and October 1 for Congress. SPECIAL TRAVEL AND SCHOLARSHIPS If surplus funds are available, money will be awarded on a case by case basis. In general there is a limit of $150 per event, per person. STATE 4-H LEADERS FORUM If surplus funds are available, money will be awarded on a case by case basis. TEEN CONFERENCE (2014 Cost= $250 + transportation) Up to ten $125 scholarships are available for 4-Her s attending Idaho Teen Conference. Applications are available at the Extension Office. Applications are due one month prior to registration due date. TEEN CAMP (2014 Cost= $205.00) Up to ten $100 scholarships are available for 4-Her s attending Teen Camp. Applications are available at the Extension Office. KIDS CAMP (2014 Cost= $165.00) Up to ten $80 scholarships are available for 4-Her s attending Kids Camp. As a stipulation of scholarship approval you are required to perform a 4-H or public service activity. Upon completion of activity please fill out this form, have it signed by adult activity supervisor, 4-H member, and return to Extension Office. No further scholarship applications will be accepted until prior scholarship obligations are fulfilled.
