Attend and participate in the Fourth International Conference on Local Government. 2. Develop and strengthen ties with the host of the Fourth International Conference on Local Government, Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya. 3. Build a strong network with the universities in Indonesia. 4. Develop an enhanced awareness of potential collaborative partners in the field of academe. 5. Promote the College of Local Administration as a competent academic institution and develop community linkages within Indonesia. 6. Promote academic and research excellence, including identification and development of selective areas particularly in the field of Governance, Political Science, and Public Administration not just in the academe, but to local governance itself around the world. The College of Local Administration (COLA) delegates of Khon Kaen University comprising of Assoc. Prof. Supawatanakorn Wongthanavasu, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Peerasit Kamnuansilpa, PhD, Dr. Hirofumi Ando, Dr. Gayl Ness, Dr. Tatchalerm Sudhipongpracha, Prof. Vanchai Vatanasapt, Mr. Seri Pichitsiri, GEN Supaluck Suvarnajata and Ms. Ayla Calumpang were once again welcomed representatives of UNTAG Surabaya. Representatives from the Damandiri Foundation headed Dr. Haryono Suyono were also present. The main activity for the day were making last minute preparations for the conference as well as the inauguration of the International Association for Local Governments (IALG). September 19-20, 2013 The conference proper began on the morning of September 19, 2013. Tri Rismaharini, MT. Mayor of Surabaya, Indonesia RESULTS: COLA s efforts to endorse Khon Kaen University as well as Thailand were very much appreciated all the institutions who participated. COLA, as the Secretariat of the International Association for Local Governments (IALG) assisted UNTAG in developing organizing committees. The 5 th International Conference on Local Government was further endorsed, hence, raised the credibility of the conference and institution. The next venue for the 5 th International Conference on Local Government was declared to be held in Palembang, Sumatra, Indonesia hosted Sriwijaya University. ACTION PLAN: COLA will continue to facilitate the communications between the members of the IALG as well as help promote the conference all over the world. Pursue and follow up the activities agreed upon the meetings to prepare for the 5th International Conference on Local Government. Continue to promote the concept of AEC strengthening ties with the respective universities. 9
