Utah State Gymnastics 2002 SEASON OUTLOOK For 25 years, Utah State gymnastics coach Ray Corn has entered the gymnastics training center in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation building each fall with high expectations for his team. This year is no different as the 2002 Aggies return 11 letterwinners, bring in five talented newcomers, and come into the season after winning the final Big West Conference gymnastics championship. With the Big West s decision to no longer sponsor gymnastics as a conference sport after the 2001 season, Utah State, Boise State, Cal State Fullerton, Denver University and Southern Utah have banded together to create the highly competitive Western Gymnastics Conference. Each member of the WGC was ranked ninth or above in its respective division in the final 2001 NCAA gymnastics rankings. USU will host the first-ever Western Gymnastics Conference meet on March 22. Between now and then, though, the Aggies strategy in 2002 will concentrate on scoring points in the all-around program as they face an extremely tough schedule. I think we ve been blessed with some highly talented athletes who can give us good strength in the all-around program, Corn said. We re looking at a program that will once again showcase our talent there, which is where I believe the real strength of performance comes from. With 10 gymnasts capable of putting up big numbers in the all-around competition, Corn said he anticipates using the group much like baseball teams utilitze a pitching rotation. We ll have two or three girls compete on a night and then rest them, allowing us to integrate into their routines more difficulty over the course of the year. In adition to losing graduates Amanda Jenkins, who was a mainstay on the bars; Kristin O Dell, who averaged 9.745 on the floor exercise; and Megan Woolstenhulme, who competed in the vault in every meet for the Aggies, as well as participating in the beam in more than half of USU s Co-captain Jessenia Abrego meets, the Aggies contend with the loss of Tina Ellis. She steps into an undergraduate assistant coach role after retiring from gymnastics following last season. Ellis saw action in all 14 of USU s meets in 2001, and was the Aggies top all-around competitor in seven of the 11 meets in which she competed. Seniors Jessenia Abrego and Kristen Bloom, junior Allison Rosenthal and sophomore Brittnee Penman are expected to fill the hole Ellis retirement leaves. Those four girls have really turned it up since we found out Tina will be unable to compete. Losing Tina is a huge blow to our program, and we need someone to be able to step up and fill her shoes. Abrego averaged a 9.746 on the vault last season, reaching a season high of 9.825 three times, including at the Big West championship meet, good for third place and all-big West honors. The Las Vegas, Nev., native also saw action on the bars and the floor. Jessenia has certainly improved on the beam and will dazzle us with her strength on vault and floor, Corn said. Bloom mainly competed on the beam last season, posting a 9.9 at Southern Utah on March 12. I believe she ll return to the peak form she showed as a freshman, Corn said. She resolved the inconsistency issues she had last season on the bars. 3 Co-captain Kirra Seeley (Degener) Rosenthal, from Scottsdale, Ariz., and Penman, a native of Murray, Utah, were specialists last season, working in the floor exercise and bars, respectively. Rosenthal reached a seasonhigh 9.875 three times on floor exercise, with the last mark coming at the Big West championships, tying for second and earning her all-big West honors. She also was named to the 2001 academic all-big West team. Allison is a key player from the 2001 season; she has the opportunity to really bolster the all-around core and get us some points there. She s our top returning floor exerciser because of her great consistency there, Corn said. And I expect Brittnee Penman is going to be a very pleasant surprise as an all-arounder. She ll be a delight to watch. The only two returning Aggies who saw action in the all-around last year are sophomore Mika Houston, from Las Vegas, Nev., and junior Nicole Kilpatrick, a Ringwood, N.J., native. Houston, who has seen limited activity this fall, is recovering from a car accident she was involved in on her return to USU in August. Corn said she has been limited on the uneven bars, but he expects her to be at 100 percent by the time the season opens. She was an all-around competitor just twice last year, setting a season best (38.550) against San Jose State. Kilpatrick, a 2001 academic all-big

Utah State Gymnastics 2002 SEASON OUTLOOK West selection, posted a season-best 39.325 in the all-around against BYU last March, tying her season-highs in vault (9.850), bars (9.825) and floor (9.875). In my opinion, this is going to be her year, Corn said. I believe Nicole has regained that form that got her to the very heights of elite competition, vying for an Olympic spot. She has overcome the ruptured Achilles tendon she sustained as a freshman, and we re going to see very good things from her. Senior Stephanie Gordon (Huff), who competed exclusively at floor last year, but was involved in the vault and floor in every meet in 2000, is expected to see some action in the all-around. She s been a rock for us on two of the four events, Corn said. I think she s trained well and trained hard all summer long and will see a lot of time as an all-arounder. Gordon, a Spanish Fork, Utah, native, was named an academic all-american by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) and to the academic all-big West team in 2001. Junior Kyla Mattioli will add the uneven bars to the role as a vault and floor specialist she solidified last season. The Hampton, N.J., native posted a season-high 9.800 on the vault against Brigham Young, and scored a 9.625 twice last year on the floor, inluding against Missouri. Corn said he anticipates freshmen Sarah Colson, from Parker, Colo., and Katie Rutherford, a Chappqua, N.Y., native, will have an immediate impact on the team s performance, as they re expected to be strong competitors in the all-around. Sarah is one of our best surprises, Corn said. She graduated from high school two years ago, but has continued to train. I ve watched her since ninth grade, and she is certainly going to be a force to be reckoned with in the allaround. Corn said Rutherford is expected to step right into the top of the all-around competition. She s a brilliant all-arounder. Katie will dazzle us with her enthusiasm and should really be a mainstay in our lineup. She ll be right in the thick of things for us. The Aggies have five gymnasts who will function as specialists this year. Senior Kirra Seeley (Degener), who was injured for part of the 2000 season, returns to the USU lineup in the uneven bars, the floor exercise and the balance beam. She was certainly missed on the floor of competition, Corn said. She s just so stellar in those three events. We need her presence. Seeley posted a season-high 9.750 in the beam at BYU on March 16, and was an NACGC/W academic all-american and a 2001 academic all-big West selection. Junior Kelcy Wathen has recovered from the celluitis she contracted mid-way through the 2001 season, and should reclaim her spot in bars lineup, said Corn. She s making a very, very strong push for a starting spot on the balance beam as well, he said. Three freshmen, Nalani Chung, from Fort Collins, Colo., Jessica Rands, a native of Sammamish, Wash., and Rachel Ropelato of Nibley, Utah, round out the Aggie specialist positions. Rands is expected to see a lot of action on vault, floor and beam. She s just a workhorse who s extremely talented, but limited in terms of her difficulty right now, Corn said. Chung and Ropelato will probably see limited action this year, but Corn said their potential is high. Nalani is absolutely spectacular on bars. We ll slowly train her on the other events. Rachel, our homegrown gymnast, will see time on the vault, floor and uneven bars when she competes. Of Utah State s 10 opponents this season, five Utah (No. 5), Arizona State (No. 9), BYU (No. 11), Ohio State (No. 21) and Denver University (No. 24) were ranked among the top 25 in last season s final poll. In regional rankings, USU finished the 2001 season at seventh in the North Central region, behind Utah (No. 1), BYU (No. 3) and Denver University (No. 5). This is one of the best schedules 4 The Aggies celebrate a performance. we ve had in a long time, with the opportunity to bring in Cal State Fullerton and Arizona State. It s difficult for us to come up with many schools outside of those we compete with year-in and year-out because we have such great local competition. We have great, strong natural rivalries. Corn said, as always, Denver University will be tough to beat in the first GWC meet. DU made it to the national championships last year, and I expect they ll be every bit as good this year. Cal State Fullerton and Boise State are always good, but I think we ll have an advantage by competing on our own turf. It s totally awesome for us to have the opportunity to host this first conference meet. It will be a great way to cap off a special regular season, he said. I m excited to see this 25th year at Utah State. I m really pleased to have been here for 25 years, and I ll be here as long as USU will keep me. I m very proud and pleased about the quality of the student-athlete we ve had come through here, Corn said. We ve graduated a lot of very successful, upstanding girls who are well-respected in their fields of endeavor. I want to be here to see more of those class student-athletes go through Utah State. It s been a good ride, and I expect we ll be able to make this year even more special with some great performances on the floor of competition.

Utah State Gymnastics COACH RAY CORN 25th Year (25th Overall) University of Northern Colorado, 1971 B.A. Social Sciences Ray Corn has created and continued a tradition of success in his 25 years at Utah State, both in the gym and in the classroom. Utah State Gymnastics 2001 SEASON REVIEW After managing a home win over then-no. 8 Brigham Young in March, defeating a talented Missouri team by.875 of a point in February and edging out Cal State Fullerton by.825 of a point for the last-ever Big West gymnastics title, Utah State had high hopes for the NCAA Regional meet. Two falls on the balance beam in the opening rotation of the regional meet put to rest any hopes USU may have held for a trip to the national championships. Utah State finished fifth of six teams at the regional, with a team score of 191.200. Utah and Denver placed first and second at the regional meet, with scores of 194.075 and 193.900, respectively, earning trips to the national meet. The Aggies opened with their second-lowest beam score of the season, posting a 47.550. Tina Ellis was USU s top scorer with her 9.775 set. Utah State went on to turn in six solid routines on the floor exercise for a 48.150. Jessenia Abrego paced the Aggies wtih a 9.775 mark, while Stephanie Gordon turned in USU s second-best score with a 9.625. Nicole Kilpatrick then paced USU on the vault (47.450) in the fourth rotation, scoring a team-best 9.625. Kristen Fargo and Megan Woolstenhulme followed behind closely with a pair of 9.600s to round out the Aggie top three. Utah State concluded the meet with a 48.050 on the bars, as Ellis and Kim Scharman were the Aggies top two performers, recording scores of 9.775 and 9.750, respectively. The Aggies graduated three seniors from the 2001 team Amanda Jenkins, Kristin O Dell and Woolstenhulme. Jenkins concluded her career at USU as a bar specialist, and was one of the Aggies most consistent bar workers until a torn ACL before the March 16 BYU meet sidelined her for the rest of the season. She averaged a 9.661 bar score and notched a career-high 9.850 mark twice. Woolstenhulme, a senior co-captain, 2001 Big West Champions competed on both the vault and beam. She was a top three finisher on the vault in seven meets for USU, including taking top honors three times. She finished with the third-best season vault average on the team (9.702) and fifth-best season beam average (9.525). Woolsenthulme scored a season-high 9.850 on the vault at BYU (3/16/01) and recorded a career-high beam score of 9.800 twice in the 2001 season. O Dell, also a senior co-captain, finished her career at USU as a floor specialist. She concluded the season with a team-high 9.745 season floor avearage, good enough to tie as the seventh-best season floor average in school history. O Dell did not score below a 9.725 in 12 of the Aggies 14 meets last season, and notched a career-high 9.875 against Missouri (2/ 17/01), tying two other Aggies for first place in the event. O Dell recorded a 9.800 or better on the floor six times in 2001. 2001 also saw the retirement of USU s Ellis because of injury. Ellis competed in the all-around for USU in all but three meets last year, eanring all-big West honors in consecutive years with a third-place finish in the all-around (38.925). Ellis won eight individual event titles, four in beam 20 and four on bar, and two all-around titles last season. Her best meet of the year was at BYU (3/16/01) where she won the beam and bar competitions with scores of 9.950 in both events. That 9.950 was the best beam mark in USU history, while the bar mark is the third-best posted by an Aggie. She retires listed among the top 10 season best averages in beam and all-around, and among the top scores in bars, beam and the all-around. As a team, the Aggies posted a 10-4 record on the year, splitting season dual meet competitions with Boise State, BYU and Southern Utah. Utah State was 4-1 in meets in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, with its only loss in Logan coming to San Jose State on Feb. 26. On the season, Utah State averaged 1,745 fans per meet. In dual action, the Aggies came up short against Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Denver University in Denver, Colo. At the Big West Championship meet in Santa Barbara, Calif., the Aggies managed to outscore Cal State Fullerton in vault and bars, but were ouscored in the beam by Fullerton and UC Santa Barbara. Additionally, USU posted a 48.975 on the floor exercise at the BWC, behind Fullerton and Boise State.

Utah State Gymnastics STUDENT-ATHLETE SERVICES The Office of Student-Athlete Services at Utah State University is designed to assist student-athletes in the areas of academic, vocational and social development. The office s goal is to support student-athletes in their pursuit of degrees that prepare them for satisfying careers. The Office of Student-Athlete Services also helps to determine that student-athletes meet and maintain NCAA, Big West and Utah State University eligibility standards. The following is a list of services provided through the Student-Athlete Services Office. CHAMPS HAMPS/Life Skills Program The Office of Student-Athlete Services assists with the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills (Challenging Athletes Minds for Success) program through athletics at Utah State University. The CHAMPS/ Life Skills program offers workshops to student-athletes on topics including effective study skills, career services, time management, test-taking, notetaking, interpersonal relationships and alcohol and other drug education. Student-Athlete Services also provides a two-credit, new student-athlete orientation course in the fall semester for all new student-athletes. Upperclass Student- Athlete Mentors (SAMs) assist new student-athletes through this course and in making a smooth transition to the university and Division I athletics. Tutoring Tutoring is arranged for all student-athletes who desire additional academic support. Trained undergraduate and graduate students offer individual and small-group tutoring sessions. Tutors are available at no cost for student-athletes in nearly any course they may take at USU and can help supplement classroom learning. Registration and Academic Advising advisers are the people most knowledgeable about each particular program of study, ensuring that student-athletes progress toward graduation. Study Sessions Supervised study sessions are offered to student-athletes four evenings each week throughout the school year. These study sessions, held after class and practice, provide a quiet and structured time frame for student-athletes to focus on classwork. Tutors regularly attend these sessions and are available to assist student-athletes with coursework and use of computer labs. Eligibility Student-Athlete Services staff members can answer questions about continued eligibility stats. The office is responsible for monitoring student-athletes academic progress throughout each semester and for communicating potential concerns to student-athletes and coaches. Career Counseling If student-athletes are unsure about selecting a major or career, the Office of Student-Athlete Services can assist in defining their interests. The office works cooperatively with USU Career Services and campus advisers to help studentathletes choose areas of study that will prepare them for satisfying careers. The Office of Student-Athlete Services helps student-athletes understand university administrative policies and procedures, and coordinates class registration. All student-athletes have priority registration, allowing them to select necessary courses a full week before campus registration begins. This assures that courses student-athletes select fulfill major requirements and fit their time schedules each semester. Student-athletes are assigned academic advisers when they enter USU. These Aggie student-athletes receive academic support from the Office of Student-Athlete Services. 32

Utah State Gymnastics UTAH STATE ADMINISTRATION Rance Pugmire Athletics Director Kermit L. Hall President A six-year member of the Utah State University Athletics Department, Rance Pugmire is in his third year as athletics director. After serving as the associate athletics director for external operations for two years, Pugmire was appointed to the position of athletics director on July 16, 1999, replacing Bruce Van De Velde, who left to take a position as senior associate athletics director at the University of Oklahoma. USU is fortunate to have a person of Rance's capabilities and experience who is already employed by the university in the athletics department, said Fred Hunsaker, vice president of administrative affairs. This speaks well of the high caliber of personnel we have working in athletics at USU, Hunsaker said. Rance will do a great job for our athletics program. In Pugmire s time at Utah State, the athletics department has seen continued success both athletically and academically. USU became the first Big West school to win a basketball game in the NCAA tournament since 1993. As the associate athletics director for external operations, Pugmire worked with a team of staff members and volunteers to stage USU's record-breaking auction, which raised $17,000, more than the previous record. USU fundraising also showed great increases, including a record $40,000 from its fund-raising golf tournaments. Prior to his 1998 appointment as associate athletics director, Pugmire served as the assistant athletic director for development and media relations at USU beginning in 1995. While at USU, he has overseen fund-raising efforts, the marketing department, the media relations department, and worked with the ticket office as well as serving as the administrator for the sports of track and cross country and softball and overseeing game-day operations for football and basketball. Before coming to USU he worked as the regional development director at the University of Idaho from 1994-95. He was the sports information director at Idaho from 1990-94, where he coordinated a successful campaign to help Doug Nussmeier earn the 1993 Division I-AA college football player-of-the-year award. Prior to joining the Idaho staff, Pugmire spent three years as assistant sports information director at St. John's (N.Y.) University. Pugmire has also worked in press operations with the original USA Basketball Dream Team and the U.S. Olympic Festival. A native of Hagerman, Idaho, he graduated from the University of Idaho in 1987 with a degree in journalism and a minor in political science. Married to the former Barbara Hinkle of Fairfield, Idaho, Pugmire and his wife are the parents of two children, Jordyn, 8, and Conner, 5. Dr. Kermit L. Hall became the 14th president of Utah State University on Jan. 2, 2001. He oversees Utah s landgrant university, the oldest such institution west of the Mississippi River, with an enrollment of 21,000 undergraduate and graduate students. President Hall came to Utah from North Carolina State University where he was Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. President Hall holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of Minnesota, a M.S. in the study of law from Yale University Law School, and a B.A. from the University of Akron. He also graduated from Harvard University s Institute for Educational Management. A tenured member of the department of history, President Hall regularly teaches a course in the history of the Supreme Court for undergraduates on the Logan campus. He also has held academic and administrative posts at a number of universities, serving perviously as Dean of the College of Humanities and Executive Dean of the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, as well as a professor of history and law at the Ohio State University and as professor of history and law at the University of Florida. An historian and legal scholar, Dr. Hall has authored or co-authored five books, edited or co-edited 12 more and published more than 100 articles in history, political science and law journals. President Bill Clinton nominated and the Senate confirmed President Hall as one of the five members of the John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Review Board. The Board opened to the American public millions of previously highly classified documents relating to the assassination of President Kennedy. For his service, President Hall received the James Madison Award of the American Library Association, given annually to those persons who have made an outstanding conmmitment to openness in government. In his role as an historian, President Hall has conducted extensive research in Utah, including the records of the Utah Historical Society, the genealogical library of the LDS Church and the Wetsern History Collection at Utah State University. He also served on the editorial board of the Western Historical Quarterly, which is housed on the Logan campus. Since arriving on campus, President Hall has made a special effort to reach out to and become familiar with the people of Utah. He has milked a cow in every county of the state and he and his wife, Phyllis, have taught a class in at least one elementary and high school in each county in the state. Phyllis Hall, also an educator, served as an elementary school Library Media Specialist in the Wake County School System of North Carolina before moving to Utah. Some of her other interests include working with at risk students. She serves as a volunteer tutor at Ellis Elementary School in Logan. 33

Utah State Gymnastics UTAH STATE & THE CITY OF LOGAN Utah State University, surrounded by the magnificent mountains of the Bear River Range, is proud to call Cache Valley and Logan its home. Established in 1888, USU has a long heritage of commitment to excellence in higher education at many levels, including teaching, research and outreach services through Extension. USU is the state s third largest university, with more than 20,000 students. Eight academic colleges provide comprehensive undergraduate educational programs, and the graduate school offers 34 doctoral and 98 master s degrees. The student body represents every county in Utah, all 50 states, and 80 foreign countries. A majority of students live on or near campus. Housing accommodations, both on and off campus, are available in many different forms. The university, the state s only land-grant institution, has an international reputation for research and teaching. It is a Carnegie I research institution, a distinction achieved by fewer than three percent of the colleges and universities in the United States. USU houses 45 research centers and institutes, including four state Centers of Excellence. USU s expertise has positioned it as research leaders in several important arenas, and its Space Dynamics Lab is recognized internationally for its innovative work in space instrumentation, research, and engineering. Researchers at the Center for Persons with Disabilities continue to lead the nation in their field. Important new research opportunities complement more traditional land-grant areas of emphasis in agriculture, engineering and natural resources. USU has a strong international presence, with major research projects in more than 25 countries around the world. The beautiful USU campus covers more than 400 tree-covered acres, which provides a setting that mixes the quiet intimacy of a mountain town with the bustle that 20,000 diverse college students lend to life. The university also offers outstanding cultural programming, Division I-A athletics and recreational activities of every sort skiing, boating, fishing, hiking, hunting and snowmobiling. USU is truly a Cache Valley treasure, as expressed by an outside review committee during a 1997 reaffirmation of accreditation report. We commend Utah State University for distinctive qualities that make it a special place to learn, teach, and work. It is friendly, civil, respectful, caring and humane. Students have good access to faculty. These qualities make the university an unusually fertile place for teaching and learning. Taggart Student Center Cache Valley Nestled at the foot of the nearly 10,000-foot high Bear River Range, Logan s setting is beautiful in any season. Located just 85 miles north of Salt Lake City and 95 miles south of Pocatello, Idaho, 38,000 people call Logan home. Logan is located in Cache Valley which measures 60 miles long by 12 miles wide and allows its population of 83,000 to see mountains in every direction. Cache Valley s name comes from the early trapping days. In the mid 1800s fur trappers and traders would take fur pelts and hide or cache them for pickup at a later date. This rich heritage is traced back to some of the most famous trappers, traders and mountain men of the era. Residents consider Logan Canyon a 40-mile community park leading to 23-mile-long Bear Lake, called the Rocky Mountain Caribbean for its azure blue waters. Outstanding fishing, hiking, biking, skiing and golfing are all just minutes away from the Valley s front door. For year-round beauty and outdoor recreation, Cache Valley is hard to beat. From downhill skiing at Beaver Mountain Ski Resort to cross country skiing at Sherwood Hills Resort (an alternate Olympics site for the 2002 Winter Games) to snowmobiling on miles and miles of groomed trails, Cache Valley has a huge variety of winter activities no more than 27 miles from downtown Logan. All summer, everything from hiking and biking to festivals can be found in the 19 communities that comprise Cache Valley. These festivals include Summerfest, a jazz and arts festival; Trout and Berry Days, a celebration of some of the best fishing in the western United States; Utah Festival Opera Company, a festival for worldrenowned opera and musicals; and the Festival of the American West, honoring our western heritage. Cache Valley has four distinct seasons. Spring is a beautiful time of year, with nearly 40 percent of the annual precipitation falling in March, April and May. Ideal spring temperatures last all summer long. Nights are cool and the humidity is relatively low in the daytime. Maximum summer temperatures can reach 100 degrees, but only a few days. Fall is a beautiful season in Cache Valley, with the changing color of the leaves, the clear days and crisp, cool evenings. The brilliant reds of the maples and the glorious yellows of the aspens make a sharp contrast with the vibrant green of the Douglas firs. During the winter months, the mountains are blanketed with snow, while most of the valley snow melts off quickly. 34

Utah State Gymnastics 25 YEARS OF AGGIE GYMNASTICS 25 Success came early to the Aggie gymnastics program. In its inaugural year, the team had two AIAW national qualifiers in Alicia Johnston and teammate Jodi Mabb. The two tied for 12th in the all-around at nationals in 1978. The following year, Mabb returned to nationals, this time with the rest of the USU gymnastics squad. She took 14th in the all-around competition, and as a team the Aggies finished 10th in the nation. USU returned to team competition in 1980, taking 13th; in 1981, finishing 14th; and in 1982, when the Aggies had their best national finish of ninth. The Aggies last competed in the NCAA national meet in 1991, when they finished 11th overall. As a team, Utah State has participated in the NCAA regional meet every year but one since joining the organization in 1983. The Aggies posted a program-high third place finish at the 1999 regionals. In all, seven Utah State gymnasts have qualified for the NCAA national meet as an individual. Kris Stano was USU s last gymnast to earn all-america honors, finishing fourth in the floor exercise in 1982. Stano missed all-around all- America honors by one place, taking 11th in the all-around competition. Tana Davis competed in the all-around in 1990 and 1991, becoming just the second USU gymnast to qualify for nationals in consecutive years. The last USU gymnast to qualify for nationals was Amber Jamison who took 22nd in the all-around in 1999. At the conference level, USU had 40 gymnasts earn all-big West honors in 57 events in 10 years in the league, and 15 gymnasts claimed Big West titles. Those 15 gymnasts included Shannon Passe, who was conference champion in the balance beam in 1995 and 1996, and Christy Denson, who won individual titles in the uneven bars (1998, 2000), the all-around (1999, 2000), and the balance beam (1999). As a team, the Aggies took the Big West title four times 1992, 1996, 1998 and 2001, when the Aggies won the final Big West championship crown, as the conference decided to no longer sponsor the sport following that season. Denson earned all-big West honors 10 times, including in 2000, when she finished among the top gymnasts in the allaround, the bars, the beam and the floor exercise, making her just the second gymnast to earn all-conference honors in four events in one season. The last gymnast to achieve that honor was Barb Zahl in 1992. Since the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) began naming an academic all-america team in 1991, 23 Aggies have been named a total of 47 times, including four-time selections Haley Houtchens (1991-94) and Emily Swank (1994-1998). In 2001, eight Aggies were selected to the academic all-big West team, the most academic all-conference gymnast selections ever.
