Thank you for using our electronic confirmation. Enclosed you will find a campus map, tentative schedule, visitor parking permit, and directions to RIT. When you arrive on campus, please display your parking permit on the dashboard of your vehicle and follow the signs to Parking Lot D. Check-In will be held from 8:30 a.m. 9:00 a.m. in the Student Alumni Union (SAU on your campus map). A light continental breakfast will be served during Check-In and Admissions representatives will be on hand to help you plan your day. The Opening Session will be held in Ingle Auditorium in the Student Alumni Union (SAU) starting at 9:00 a.m. Academic department meetings will follow the Opening Session from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. If you would like to have lunch while on campus, we recommend Gracie s Dining Hall in Grace Watson Hall (GWH on your campus map). Gracie s is an all-you-can eat facility with lunch available for $9.00 per person. Afternoon activities include a financial aid presentation, campus and residence hall tours, RIT apartment tours, and the opportunity to meet individually with an Admissions representative. A full schedule of the day s events will be provided at Check-In. If you bring a portfolio with you on January 6 th, you will have the opportunity to have it reviewed during the morning academic meeting from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Representatives from The Schools of Art, Design, American Crafts, and Photography will be on hand to conduct the portfolio reviews. Please note that portfolios are not required for the Schools of Media Sciences or Film & Animation. Students attending the Transfer Open House are also welcome to participate in our Instant Application Review from 12 p.m. 3:00 p.m. in the Undergraduate Admissions Office. Interested students will be able to discuss admissibility to their program of interest and receive an estimate of merit scholarship funding. In order to participate, we will need a completed RIT application, including sealed official college transcripts and an approved portfolio evaluation (Art, Design, Crafts, and Photography applicants only). We will be unable to provide this service for students applying to ASL-English Interpretation, Film & Animation, Game Design & Development, New Media Interactive Development, Mechanical, Biomedical and Chemical Engineering, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and the Physician Assistant program due to the limited space available in these programs. Transfer Open House Tentative Schedule Check-in/Continental Breakfast 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. You re invited to enjoy refreshments and some lite fare. At that time, you may also sign up for an optional individual interview with an Admissions Counselor. Student Alumni Union (SAU) Lobby Opening Session & Admissions Presentation 9:00 a.m. - 9:50 a.m. The Director of Transfer Admissions will discuss what RIT has to offer transfer students. We will also cover the application process and discuss what we look for and how we make our admissions decisions. Dismissal for Academic Meetings will take place after the presentation. Student Alumni Union (SAU) Ingle Auditorium Academic Meetings 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Representatives from the academic departments will discuss curriculum requirements, our state-of-the-art facilities, and answer questions about course recommendations and transfer credit evaluations. You will be escorted to your meeting from Ingle Auditorium. If you bring a portfolio: You will have an opportunity to have it reviewed during this time period by representatives from the Schools of Art, Design, American Crafts, and Photography. Please note: Portfolios are not required for the School of Media Sciences or Film & Animation. Please also note: The Schools of American Crafts, Art, Design, and Media Sciences will conduct a tour of their facilities during this time period. Lunch 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Select from several dining options on campus. Rochester Institute of Technology Directions & Nearby Hotel Accommodations The RIT campus is located in Rochester, New York. The third largest city in New York State, Rochester is on Lake Ontario, about midway between Niagara Falls and Syracuse and within easy driving distance to Toronto. The Rochester area is serviced by Greyhound and Trailways bus companies as well as the Amtrak train line. The Greater Rochester International Airport is home to most major airlines, including USAir, United, Delta, American, JetBlue, AirTran and others. Taxis are available at the airport, train and bus stations. RIT is also a stop on Route 24 of the Regional Transit Service, the area's mass transit bus system. RIT's main campus is five miles from both the airport and the NY State Thruway (Interstate 90). Directions to RIT: From the Airport: Turn right onto Brooks Ave., then a quick right onto I-390 South. From 390, take the next exit (Scottsville Rd.) and turn right at the end of the ramp. Drive for approximately three miles, then turn left onto Jefferson Rd. (Route 252). Proceed east a short distance to campus (on the right). Then follow signs for Open House parking in Lots D and G. From the NYS Thruway: Take Exit 46 and proceed North on I-390 to Exit 13 (Hylan Dr.). Take a left onto Hylan Dr. and continue north to Jefferson Rd. (Route 252), then take a left at the Jefferson Rd. intersection. You will travel approximately ½ mile, passing South Town Plaza. Immediately after passing the Radisson Hotel, turn left onto Lowenthal Rd.
