e y n t e s News for the team members of Cross Keys Village -The Brethren Home Community As of January 19, there have been 477 days since our last lost-time injury. Nice Job! 01/26/2018 Pastoral Care continues to pray for you. Our focus the next two weeks will be Laundry on January 29 and those under stress on February 5. Inclement Weather Events CKV-TBHC provides 24-hour resident care regardless of weather emergencies. Our team members are asked to be available and flexible during weather events. During a weather event, the service line administrators or their designee will serve as the main point of contact for communication with team members. Poor weather conditions may cause difficulty or delay while commuting to work. If transportation is needed during severe weather, team members should contact the front desk receptionist to coordinate transportation. Volunteers, including CKV team members (typically Maintenance, Transportation, and Leadership), may be available to transport required team members who might otherwise miss shifts. Transportation is not a guarantee and will be provided based on volunteer availability and weather conditions. Required Team Members CKV expects the following required personnel to make necessary preparations to work their scheduled shift(s) during weather events: Service-line Administrators, RNs, LPNs, NAs, CSAs, Neighborhood Secretaries, Campus Dining, Maintenance, Grounds, Transportation, Personal care (including Brookside), Community Life, Social Services, Housekeeping, Laundry, Admissions, Residential Living, Village Services, Pastoral Care and Reception. Required team members may be asked to remain on duty by their supervisor. In some cases, CKV will provide overnight accommodations and meals for required team members who are unsure of their ability to get to and from the CKV during a weather emergency. Department supervisors will coordinate required coverage levels based on department need to ensure necessary services are maintained during a weather event. The unscheduled absence of any required team member during a weather emergency for any reason other than an approved leave of absence may be considered an un-excused absence occurrence without PTO For more information, and/or to access the full inclement weather policy, please refer to page 39 of the Team Member handbook.

Monarch Consulting & CKV Our partnership with Monarch Consulting continues and we would like to thank you for being part of our strategy to enrich our overall team member engagement. During the first week of October 2017, Monarch Risk Management staff in conjunction with CKV Team Members held listening sessions to explore ways to improve our current performance evaluation system and our ability to care for each other. We received an encouraging number of responses from those sessions. Since then, we have started the process of creating a new performance evaluation (annual review). The first step is the selection of team members from across campus to join one of 4 different committees. The Monarch team continues to meet with our team on a monthly basis and will be meeting again with all Nursing team members for additional feedback over the next month. Buyer Beware! Don t Fall For Online-Only CPR Certification Scams. There are numerous websites and organizations that offer instant CPR certifications without ever stepping inside a training center. Don t be fooled they are just after your money. CKV-TBHC does not accept online-only certification and neither do other reputable healthcare organizations in our area. If your job requires that you maintain valid CPR/AED certification, please understand that we will only accept CPR certification from the organizations listed below who require hands-on skills testing by a certified instructor. Here are the 3 certifying organizations and certifications that CKV-TBHC will accept: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers First Aid/CPR/AED Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Emergency Medical Response Responding to Emergencies Comprehensive First Aid/CPR/AED American Heart Association: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) BLS (Basic Life Support) Heartsaver CPR/AED Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED ASHI ( American Safety and Health Institute): CPR & AED CPR, AED, & First Aid COMBO CPR Pro for the Professional Rescuer As a reminder, we offer CPR/AED recertification for FREE in February, June, and October of each year. To register, log into Relias and click Browse Courses. Search for the CKV CPR Challenge, and select a time/date.

For questions or more information, please contact Kelley Mitchell (5245) in Human Resources. WellSpan Multiphasic Blood Screening Like many organizations must do from time-to-time, WellSpan is reformatting some of their programs such as the Multiphasic Blood Screenings. This is a program that CKV participates in each year. Currently, there is limited information of the new locations and times that these types of screenings will be conducted. We will be sure to provide an update on this matter as soon as more information becomes available. For questions, please contact Holly Shearer, Director of Community Wellness, at extension 5303.
