Workshop on Integration of Emergency Plans in Malta There have been improvements in regional arrangements due to MOIG activities. Although many Mediterranean countries have ratified the IMO OPRC 90 Convention, implementation remains an issue. Workshop held in May 2007 between REMPEC Focal Points and MOIG members. The workshop was a success and important recommendations: - Organise joint MOIG/REMPEC workshop - Organise joint Training for Government and Industry Representatives
Activities for 2009 Joint MOIG/REMPEC Workshop in Marseille 11-12 May to: Strengthen cooperation between governments and industry in the Mediterranean region; and Provide recommendations for short/medium and long term activities to increase the preparedness and response capacity in the Mediterranean.
Activities for 2009 Preparatory work for workshop: Questionnaires sent out to industry and government in the Med by MOIG and REMPEC to obtain information on preparedness, response and cooperation arrangements in the region. Based on the results of the questionnaires, issues for discussion during the workshop have been identified. Individual interviews with a consultant have been arranged for each country to encourage an exchange of information and views on preparedness and response issues.
