APRE is a non-profit research organisation based in Italy that provides information, assistance and training in order to promote Italian participation on European Research and Technological Development programmes. APRE was created upon the joint initiative of the Italian Ministry of Research and the European Commission in 1989 It is supported by approximately 100 member organisations, including both public and private research centres, industries, industrial associations, banks, chambers of commerce, science parks and 50 universities.

[Marie Curie Actions] The Marie Curie Actions are part of the People Programme of the 7th Framework Programme They support the mobility, training and career development of researchers of all nationalities They fund all domains of research (bottom-up approach) and the financing rate is 100%

[PEOPLE: objective ] To strengthen, quantitatively and qualitatively, the human potential in R&D in Europe: by stimulating people to take up the profession of a researcher, encouraging European researchers to stay in Europe, attracting to Europe the best researchers from the entire world the overall strategic objective is to make Europe more attractive for researchers
[MARIE CURIE ACTIONS]
Initial Training Networks (ITN) an action providing training opportunities for Early Stage Researchers usually provided by a network of universities, businesses and research institutes Intra-European Fellowships for Career Development (IEF) an individual grant allowing an Experienced Researcher to move within Europe to pursue his/her research project; Industry Academia Partnerships and Pathways (IAPP) an action promoting partnership and collaboration between business and academia. Early Stage Researchers, Experienced Researchers, or technical research staff can participate; International Outgoing Fellowships (IOF) an individual grant for Experienced Researchers willing to receive a research training in a host institution in a third country (outside Europe); International Incoming Fellowships (IIF) an individual grant for Experienced Researchers based in third countries (non- Europeans) willing to receive a research training in a host institution based in Europe; International Research Staff Exchange Scheme (IRSES) a staff exchange scheme fostering collaboration between research institutions based in Europe and in Third countries

[Bottom-up approach] Research fields are freely chosen by the applicants, except: research activity aiming at human cloning for reproductive purposes research activity intended to modify the genetic heritage of human beings which could make such changes heritable research activities intended to create human embryos solely for the purpose of research or for the purpose of stem cell procurement, including by means of somatic cell nuclear transfer areas of research covered by the EURATOM Treaty

[Individual driven MCA] For experienced researchers! be in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience They must comply Mobility rule: at the time of the deadline for submission of proposals, researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the country of their host organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference date bottom-up approach The project proposals are submitted by experienced researchers in liaison with a host organisation The Grant Agreement signed between the host organisation (MS/AC) and the REA
[Intra European Fellowships - IEF] To support the career development, or restart, of experienced researchers, at any stage of their career ladder To enhance their individual competence diversification in terms of skill acquisition at multi- or interdisciplinary level and/or by undertaking intersectoral experiences Experienced researchers of any nationality Mobility rule Duration of between 12 and 24 months (full time equivalent) Experienced researchers must move from a MS or AC to another MS or AC
[Intra European Fellowships - IEF] Researcher from University of Camerino
[International Outgoing Fellowships- IOF] Experienced researchers (Member State or Associated country) Researchers from Other Third Countries who have been residing and carrying out their main activity in MS or AC for at least the 5 years prior to the submission deadline To reinforce the international dimension of the career of European researchers A duration of between 24 and 36 months (full time equivalent), with an outgoing phase of 12 to 24 months and a final mandatory reintegration phase of 12 months The mobility is toward an Other Third Country (outgoing phase) Experienced researchers must move from a Member State or Associated Country to an Other Third Country
[International Outgoing Fellowships- IOF] 12-24 months 12 months OR Researcher from University of Camerino
[International Incoming Fellowships- IIF] Experienced researchers of any nationality active in an Other Third Country To reinforce the scientific excellence of the Member States and the Associated countries through knowledge sharing Duration of between 12 and 36 months, with an incoming phase of 12 to 24 months and a possible return phase of 12 months (full time equivalent) For the ICPC, the possibility to return in the country The project proposals are submitted by experienced researchers in liaison with the incoming host organisation

A time line for Horizon 2020 From 30/11: Parliament and Council negotiations on the basis of the Commission proposals Ongoing: Parliament and Council negotiations on EU budget 2014-20 (including overall budget for Horizon 2020) Mid 2012: Final calls under 7th Framework Programme for Research to bridge gap towards Horizon 2020 By end 2013: Adoption of legislative acts by Parliament and Council on Horizon 2020 1/1/2014: Horizon 2020 starts; launch of first calls Horizon 2020 will be adopted using the "ordinary legislative procedure" (formerly known as "co-decision").
