IN-COURSE AWARDS Claude T. Bissell Scholarship in the Humanities The Claude T. Bissell Scholarship has a value of $400 and is awarded to an achieved a minimum GPA of 3.50 in the Humanities. Peter F. Bronfman Gold Scholarship The Peter F. Bronfman Gold Scholarship is the premier award of the Peter F. Bronfman Scholarship Fund. This award was established by Peter Bronfman s wife Lynda, his business colleagues and companies associated with Brookfield Asset Management Ltd following his death. This award is given to a superior all-round Woodsworth College student in their final year of study with a minimum CGPA of 3.50, who has demonstrated academic excellence, contribution to the University and the community. The value of this scholarship is $10,000. Application is required. Peter F. Bronfman Leadership Scholarship The Peter F. Bronfman Leadership Scholarship is a part of the Peter F. Bronfman Scholarship Fund and is given to runners up to the Peter F. Bronfman Gold Scholarship. Five of these scholarships are awarded at $5000 each. Application is required. Alayne and Kenneth Christie Award for Part-time Students This award assists mature, part-time students, who are working a significant number of hours per week (i.e. more than 20 hours) and have demonstrated academic ability. This scholarship was established by Alayne and Kenneth Christie in recognition of Alayne s completion of her undergraduate degree at Woodsworth College as a part-time, mature student. The award will cover 2/3 of the tuition costs for 1Y course. Three scholarships will be awarded in the fall/winter session. Application is required. George E. Connell Scholarship The George E. Connell Scholarship has a value of $400 and is awarded to an achieved a minimum GPA of 3.50. Baron de Douglas Crone and Ada Crone Scholarship Established in 1998, this scholarship is awarded to Woodsworth College degree or certificate students in a commerce or employment relations program who have a minimum CGPA of at least 3.50. Five scholarships of $500 - $1000 are awarded annually. The William James Dunlop Memorial Scholarship This award was established by the University Masonic Lodge in memory of William Dunlop, a former Director of the Division of Extension (now Woodsworth College) and member of the Lodge. The recipient must be a Woodsworth College student who has completed at least eight full credits, has demonstrated outstanding academic ability and is of good character. The value of the award is $1000. Sophia Vera and Jack Bernard Ellis Scholarship The Sophia Vera and Jack Bernard Ellis Scholarship Fund has a value of approximately $400 and is awarded to outstanding Woodsworth College students who have completed at least 10 credits with a minimum CGPA of 3.50.
John R. Evans Scholarship in Social Sciences The John R. Evans Scholarship has a value of $400 and is awarded to an outstanding Woodsworth College student upon completion of first year who has achieved a minimum GPA of 3.50 in the Social Sciences. Nora Kathleen Gillies Scholarship In 1983, the estate of Nora Kathleen Gillies established this scholarship that awards part-time students who have completed at least five courses with a CGPA of at least 3.5. Four scholarships of $300 are awarded annually. Magdalena Gryc Award Named in honour of former Woodsworth College Criminology student Magdalena Gryc, this scholarship is awarded to a student in the Criminology program with highest CGPA entering their fourth year of study. The value of the scholarship is approximately $1000. James M. Ham Scholarship in Science The James M. Ham Scholarship has a value of $400 and is awarded to an achieved a minimum GPA of 3.50 in Science. Angela Hildyard Award Established by the former Principal of Woodsworth College, this award recognizes a student with pre-school or school-aged children who also demonstrates academic excellence. Preference will be given to sole-support parents. Recipients must have been identified as having financial need and must be Ontario residents. The annual amount of this award is approximately $2000. Anne Marie Hill Scholarship Anne Marie Hill was an accomplished writer, editor, a political and labour organizer, and feminist. The Ontario Woodsworth Memorial Foundation established this scholarship in her memory. The award is currently funded by the Douglas-Coldwell Foundation and has a value of $400. First awarded in 1983, this scholarship acknowledges high achievement by a student registered in the Human Resource Management Program who has completed at least three full course equivalents. Al and Frances LaPorter Award This scholarship is awarded to Woodsworth College students enrolled in the Criminology program with a high CGPA. Recipients must have been identified as having financial need and must be Ontario residents. The value of each scholarship is approximately $500. David Lewis Memorial Prize in Canadian Politics David Lewis' life as a barrister and Parliamentarian made a lasting contribution to Canadian Politics particularly through his work with the CCF and later the NDP. In his memory, this scholarship was established by the Ontario Woodsworth Memorial Foundation and is currently being funded by the Douglas-Coldwell Foundation. It is awarded to the Woodsworth College student who achieves the highest standing in a 100-level Canadian Politics course and has a value of $400. INC McNab Undergraduate In-Course Scholarship
The McNab Scholarship Fund was established in 1994 through the estate of the late Alberta McNab Daly. The fund is used to support various scholar activities at the University and provides in-course scholarships to Woodsworth College students who have completed at least ten courses with a CGPA of at least 3.5. Five scholarships of approximately $1000 are awarded annually. Dorothy Helen McRobb Scholarship The McRobb Scholarship is awarded to students based on academic achievement and financial need. Five scholarships of approximately $1000 are awarded annually. Jack and Lena Meltz Award This scholarship is awarded to Woodsworth College students enrolled in an Employment Relations program with a high CGPA. Recipients must have been identified as having financial need and must be Ontario residents. The value of each scholarship is approximately $500. Jan Monaghan Award To be awarded to a sole-support parent demonstrating academic excellence. Recipients must have been identified as having financial need and must be Ontario residents. The annual amount of this award is approximately $3000. Andrew Duart Mullin Scholarship In 1993, Norma Bliss established this scholarship in memory of Andrew Mullin, a graduate of the Woodsworth College Certificate Program in Teaching English as a Second Language. The scholarship is awarded to a student currently enrolled in the Certificate Program in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages who has completed at least 2.0 full-courses (excluding transfer credits). The approximate value is $250. Erin O Neill-Berg Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to one or more students in Humanities who have completed at least six credits. Recipients must have been identified as having financial need and must be Ontario residents. Academic merit will also be considered. The value of the award is approximately $1200. Principal Mariel O Neill-Karch Legacy Scholarship Established in recognition of Prof. O Neill-Karch s tenure as Principal of Woodsworth College, this scholarship is awarded to one or more students in the Humanities who have completed at least four credits. Ontario Woodsworth Memorial Foundation Scholarship Originally established in 1978 by the Ontario Woodsworth Memorial Foundation, this award is currently being funded by the Douglas-Coldwell Foundation. Recipients of this scholarship are recognized for their outstanding academic record and service to Woodsworth College. The value of the scholarship is $400. Rose M. Peggy Pratt Service Scholarship The Woodsworth College Students' Association established this scholarship in honour of Margaret (Peggy) Pratt who was a devoted member of the Woodsworth College staff for 35 years. This Service Award is presented to a member of the Woodsworth community who has made an outstanding contribution to the College. The value of the award is $200. James A. Priestley Scholarship The James A. Priestley Award was established in 1971 through the estate of the late Ida C. Priestley. Preference is given to students who have successfully completed at least two credits at Woodsworth College. Two scholarships, valued at $750, are awarded annually. Shauna Sexsmith Business Award To be awarded to a student enrolled in a Commerce Program, who has completed at least 4Y courses with a B (2.7) average. Recipients must have been identified as having financial need and must be Ontario residents. Priority to be given to a Woodsworth College student who enters the Commerce Program after being out of school for a considerable time (3 years). The award is approximately $2000 annually. James Shaver Woodsworth Homestead Foundation Scholarship This award is given annually to a Woodsworth College student upon completion of First Year who has achieved an average of 3.5 or better. The value of the award is approximately $300. Lilian Mary Silcox Prize in Organizational Theory Awarded to the Woodsworth College student with the highest grade in WDW260H (Organizational Behaviour) in the Winter and Summer Sessions. Donated by Professor Peter Silcox in honour of his late mother. The value of the award varies. University of Toronto Women's Association Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1984 by the University of Toronto Women's Association. The scholarship is awarded to a part-time degree student who has completed at least eight credits and has a CGPA. of at least 3.5. The value of this award is approximately $500. University of Toronto - Woodsworth College Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a student who has completed a minimum of four full courses and has achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5. The value of the scholarship is approx. $1000. Dorothy Walters Scholarship Dorothy Walters, an alumna of Woodsworth College, established this scholarship in 1996. This scholarship is awarded to Woodsworth College degree students who demonstrate outstanding academic excellence after completing at least 10 full credits. This prize is awarded to the student enrolled in the Criminology Program who receives the highest mark in Criminal Law and Procedure (WDW 220Y). The prize has a value of $500. Woodsworth College Scholarship This scholarship is awarded annually to students who have completed at least ten courses in a degree program with a minimum CGPA of 3.5. There are five awards at $600 and seven awards at $400 each. Woodsworth College Students Association - Antonia Silcox Scholarship in Criminology In 1984 the Woodsworth College Students' Association established the Antonia Silcox Scholarship in Criminology, in honour of the wife of Woodsworth College's second principal, Professor Peter Silcox. This scholarship is awarded annually to two students who have completed at least 4.0 criminology (WDW) courses and have achieved a high G.P.A. Recipients must have been identified as having financial need and must be Ontario residents. The value of each scholarship is $500.
